Default any Beyonders good with washer repair or recommend a repair person?

So it looks like the washer decided to crap out tonight. I can get water in, but it will not drain / spin / agitate at all...

Has not given us any issues up until this point...

When it comes to this kind of thing, I am useless as a one legged man at an ass kicking contest.

I let the landlord know, but said I would see what I could scare up on my own first, as I know she does not have a whole lot of free cash flow.

hoping I still have some Karma I have not used up yet LOL

going to say no. I tried rotating the drum by hand, and I could not get it to move.

It is top loading too if that makes a difference.

I believe the belt broke on your washer. The belt drives the basket and the drain pump which would explain your symptoms. Could be wrong but worth popping the front off to check. Belts are cheap. Here is a link with diagrams : http://www.reliableparts.ca/models/52884

^^I will go check and see if it is the belt, but you would think if it was the belt, I would hear the motor spinning, or clicking...

Are these motors load sensing at all?

seriously, my knowledge in this area is absolutely zip. LOL

I actually may have just fixed it...

pulled out the agitator and found a few AA batteries jammed up underneath. I think they were causing a pinch point, and made the motor over heat and go into thermal protection.

Cleaned it out, put a dab of new grease in, and it started again.

Put the load of laundry back in, and started a new cycle. Filled the tub, and the agitator started up with no issues.

    I can't be this lucky, can I...

Rechargeable batteries would have prevented this!

If it happens again, and you can't fix it...Kijiji. Forget trying to repair it. Seriously. I spent almost $3,000 on top of the line set of washer/dryer. Control pannel looked like an airplanes cockpit. Figured we were set for the next 20 years. Pfft. They didn't last 3 years. Broke down three different times. I found a used washer that looked brand new off kijiji. $50!!! It's been running smoothly for the past 3 years.
Our very first washer/dryer when we got married was brand new, but the cheapest set we could find. They lasted almost over 20 years.
These new, high-end appliances are crap. Bic lighters.
