Default Help suggst a new PC LCD display

My dad has asked me for a new LCD monitor for his office for Christmas but I do not know the first thing about these.

He uses very basic software and none of it is very graphic intense at all so he will need something that is wide screen with basic specs. The PC he is using has an on board video card.

Can you guys please suggest brands names and or models of monitors that I should be looking into? I am more concerned about longevity and quality as I don't want to buy one that will go bad in a year?

    Thanks for your suggestions

Dual Dell 19" squares is standard at my work. I really want more real estate though so I'm thinking to bring my own 27" into the office lol

I think this is the one I have:

I like it a lot. Color is really nice on IPS monitors and the adjustability on this one is great. Not sure what size or price you are looking for though.

Cheap 27" TN monitor at home, great for games, OK for text/work. I'd say a 24 is perfect if you're doing the standard 1920x1080 and they are super cheap if you don't want the fancy height/tilt stands (HAS is in the description).

Wouldn't go expensive higher res IPS or whatever if it's a cheap on board video card.

Does his video card just have the blue standard VGA plug or the white one with more pins in the pic above? If it's the blue VGA, just buy the cheapest 24" you can find with VGA.

This for 150 if cheap/no stand:

Stuck with 299 if you want a stand.

I would buy a cheap 24" or 27" IPS. Good size, and it will be great to look at still being IPS. Easily had under $200. TN panels are not very nice to look at all day, I wouldn't get one of those unless you are a hard core gamer. IPS is dirt cheap these days.

    27" under $300 still:
