Default Ford Fiesta ST is ‘TopGear Magazine Car of the Year 2013’

    I found this quite interesting.....

"The Ford Fiesta is no stranger to awards and now the Fiesta ST has earned the ultimate accolade the ‘TopGear Magazine Car of the Year 2013’. It was, according to the magazine, a unanimous choice ‘a car that invigorates, excites and rekindles some of the love you thought you’d lost for the simple stuff. A car that puts a smile on your face each and every day. It’s the most enjoyable car of 2013.’

TopGear Magazine said “the Fiesta ST does all of the things a hot hatch must do… the difference with the Ford is that it does them for £16,995. Often this would mean it lacks something the others have. But no, it has 180 horsepower. It looks cracking. The chassis is as lovingly engineered as a McLaren’s.

How so? these things get rave reviews on either side of the ocean, cost of acquisition and ownership are quite low, fun to drive and well engineered.

For those reasons, I can see why it was picked instead of some crazy over the top super car.

Just seems weird to pick this over something like the 458 Speciale however it is nice and refreshing to see a car like this win. Good on Ford. Not hating tho I am happy for this car and im sure it is a fun little car.

It's probably because supercars are expected to be the best.

When you see the Fiesta ST, you don't expect the results given.

Sometimes cars are "so good" they become boring in my opinion, it's nice to see a everyday car most people can afford won for once.

The Ford Mondeo won CotY a while back.

Motortrend just did a "best driver's" comparo between the Porsche 991, Ferrari something whizbang supercar, and a Stingray corvette. the $450k Ferrari came 3rd. Sure, it had 700hp and was an amazing car, but it wasn't as good of a drive (or overall quality) as the porsche or vette. That says something IMO.

I'd rock a 2dr one as the back seats are already useless in the 4dr one.

Honda should take notes...maybe sort out the Fit's suspension and shoe horn in an appropriate K series motor. Fit Si!

I gotta test drive one of these. I get the feeling from watching reviews this is more fun and enjoyable to drive in day to day traffic than most cars on the road.

Not sure if you are agreeing with me or disagreeing with me.

My thoughts are more towards the Mclaren MP4-12C, I had a chance to drive a 2013 as well as some various slower/cheap cars this summer, and I found that the Mclaren was very fast and very capable but also ended making me feel bored after a few laps, if I had $350000 to spend I wouldn't buy one.

My BMW was kinda the same, tons of power and easy to drive, cornered well in most cases but there was always something missing...

I'm sure I'll be hanging onto my BRZ for a long time.

Seems like a fun little car! Still have a thing about driving/owning a ford.. I think next year we should see some new Honda's with turbo engines, I think a 1.5L Turbo Fit could be right up there with these ST fords.

Understatement of the decade here.... Why we dont get the coupe is beyond me.
