Default Need advice on home audio setup

I recently purchased a pair of polk RTIA9

they are rated at 500watt and bi-ampable.

after reading all the reviews on them, they do need power to drive them well.

This is what I currently have.

polk t600 (thinking of throwing them into the rear if I can handle them)
Yamaha rxv1000 100watt /ch (old but works great)

my question is what is the most cost effective way to drive the new polk 9 series?

    I've learned that I can

-get a pre-amp using my yamaha's preout but this preamp appears to be very expensive
-get a good avr? any suggestions of a good receiver that could drive them without breaking the bank and suffer from being under powered?
-passive bi-amping? I notice my Yamaha comes with A/B channel. Is this what they mean passive bi-amping if I simply connect the pair of RTiA9 as if they were 4 speakers for the fronts?

any home audio guru experts out there

As msommers said, look at Emotiva. You can use the pre-outs on the back of your current AVR, connect them to the inputs on the Emotiva amp, and power your speakers that way. The only problem with buying Emotiva gear is, if anything ever does go wrong, you have to pay to ship it back for repairs. But an amp doesn't fail too often, and I figure you'll get plenty of years out of it.

Look at the XPA series, either the 3 or 5. The 3 will drive the front 3 speakers, the 5 will drive all 5. 200wpc is pretty good output for those RTiA9's.

You could always try my Anthem receiver I'm selling! Probably over your budget unfortunately (for both of us).

What is your budget, and what kind of specs are you wanting? Are you against buying used?

Only other place you'll find Emotiva amps is Canuck Audio Mart. Emotiva is an internet only company. So to get one cheaper, and amps don't lose value like other audio products, is used.

BYou could buy this. Outstanding deal and it has D-class amps:

    http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...2b1a5a2635en02

I think that would run them no problem but if you really want more power, Emotiva is the cheapest way to get into new quality separates.

Or just keep what you have if you aren't unhappy with it. Yamaha is famous for underrating their power though (Pioneer rates all channels driven, Yamaha does 1 or 2).

I was going to suggest Grant Fidelity up in Airdrie. They are a store front and make fantastic stuff. I really believe they offer massive performance per dollar. Unfortunately I don't think there is anything worth mentioning because I suspect they are above your budget.

I'm not very familiar at all with your speakers so take this with a grain of salt. But a huge portion of your stereo system budget should be allocated to the speakers because they make the biggest difference, then amps and your source next, with all the very minute things like cords, conditioners, magic pixey dust...

Bottom line: If you're wanting 200 WPC at all, be prepared to fork over some money. Way more if it's quality watts too.

Of course I could always sell you my Jolida integrated tube amp so I could upgrade to a Grant Fidelity Rita!! Please do, please do!

Could also buy two of these and have a pretty sweet system

those upa-1 are nice. if only they were 200 a pop, I would have considered.

I may have to scan for a used avr that can output 130+ wtt/ch, 7.1 that is bi-ampable.

Sorry for thread jack. I need more oomph for my karaoke system. Currently I have a cheap stereo receiver connected to a pair of old JBL L80t. I need more oomph because the sound is loud but hollow know what I mean? My current stereo receiver doesn't have preamp so I am ok with replacing all of it. What do I need? I am open to used.

Yeah I think that might just be a tad over his budget... Which hasn't been stated but I'm guessing <$500

get a Jungson intergrated amp from Ian/Rachael from Grant Fidelity.

They will have the best price for a great sounding amp that just can't be found around for that price.

Otherwise, you're talking about spending 1k plus, unless you're looking into the used market.

If you can find something at GF in your budget, they're great to deal with. I'm super tempted to get that Rita for my Totem Hawks lol.

You talking about this thing? Is it suitable for karaoke?

    http://shop.grantfidelity.com/Jungso...Amplifier.html

So this can replace my stereo receiver outright or do I need something else?

Currently I have the Karaoke video going to my Denon AV receiver and the audio going to the Sony stereo receiver. Can I just replace the Sony with the Jungson...is it that simple?

    Thanks in advance.

What's your Denon rated at? I'm curious why you're not using that for the audio, or what role the Sony has?

Either way, you could use your Denon has a processor and go through a bypass to an amp for more power.

I also have an Anthem MRX 500 for sale that'd do the trick for you.

I have the Denon AVR2313 running a 7.1 system with inwall/inceiling Monitor Audio speakers and a Sunfire HRS12 sub. I do not want to use these speakers to sing with.

I would like to send the video from the k machine to the Denon then use an amp to drive my JBL L80T for singing. Right now the Sony is loud but doesn't have enough highs or lows.

Your Anthem will be overkill for me.
