    Default Repainting Bowties...Ideas please

So my bowties on my chev HHR are really starting to look like crap, and I want to repaint them, but I need to know what kind of paint to use and maybe get some suggestions on colours.
I'm thinking black bowties, and i was leaning to using plastidip...

yeah, plastidip is going to be your easiest solution as far as what medium to use. If your HHR is dark in color, I would say make the bowtie blaze, and paint it orange, if it is light in color, paint it black.

I agree, Plasti-Dip is probably the best choice for the task. Super simple to use.

I'd just get new bowties..repainting is going to be a lot of effort for sub standard results imo. Check ebay..don't pay dealership markup.

I'm going to have to go with the vinyl. Is there a lip on the emblem you can use as a guide to cut the vinyl once applied? If so, you're talking about literally a 5 minute install, and it should last for years.

I dunno - there's some very desirable vehicles out there with a bowtie on them...

The bowtie has always been in every production Corvette nose badge - sometimes quite discretely and at other times more prominently.

    Some history here and here.

On which of those Corvette emblems do you feel the bowtie is shown prominently? They all look fairly subtle at best.

I wanted to mention that as soon as I saw the title, I assumed this was regarding an HHR. I know the emblem can deteriorate on all cars, but for some reason every HHR I've seen has it already failing.

I am thinking the vinyl would be a pain in the ass, being that the HHR bowties are beveled on the edges of the gold. I have heard plastidip wears off when it is one the front of a car, with all the rocks and road shit.

The aftermarkets seem like the best decision.

Still not sure on colour though. I really think black will work best with the red paint. But the inner retro enthusiast in me wants them to be a classic chevy blue
