Elephants of Africa
Below are images from Nairobi, Queen Elizabeth Park, Maasai Mara, Elephant Sands (a campsite in Namibia), Chobe River, Botswana, Okavango Delta and Kruger. All were taken with the D800 and 80-400G.
It's always exciting to see animals but there is no way to accurately describe the silence, grace and beauty elephants have in the wild. A few months after returning from Africa, I went to the zoo with my little cousins and when I saw the elephants, my heart absolutely dropped - it was so depressing to see them in such a small environment.
The Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage in Nairobi takes in young elephants where they were deserted or more likely, parents poached - the caretakers had a deep connection and love with these animals. They have acreages such up for these guys, probably two dozen youngsters there.
