    Default Macau

I'm thinking about doing a quick day trip to Macau from Hong Kong. Anyone been? Recommendations for what to see and how to get around?

I've done it a few times but I just hit up the casinos. I did walk around the older area (olde casino area) and enjoyed that more then the cotia strip side.

To get to either area there are shuttles to the casinos at no charge. Take that then walk/taxi around town and then jus go back to a casino for a free ride back to the ferry.

Any recommendations on the best casinos to check out?

    Good bars anywhere?

Well all the casinos on the Cotai Strip are the newer 'Vegas' brand casinos. If you go to the older area you will see the 'Asian' casinos (as well as the Wynn). I would go check those out for sure before the newer ones. You can just walk around the area and see a lot of shops. I've never seen so many pawn shops selling Rolexes in my life.

Once you are done in the older area just head back to the Wynn and grab the shuttle back to the ferry as you are leaving. Once you get to the ferry just hop in another shuttle that heads to the Venetian/Cotai Strip area.

As for bars I only went to lounges within the Venetian and Wynn. Nice places sat at the bar most of the time and the bartenders are chatty like anywhere else. If you're looking for a club I'd probably just ask some of the bartenders what the best place is that night.

Not sure what it's like nowadays, but I went 3 years ago and everything closed at 12 or 11:30 at night including bars and most strip clubs (I think).

We stayed at the Venetian. It was 11:30pm one night and my cousin and I wanted to grab a drink and the Hard Rock was closed, so we decided to go to a strip club and that was closed as well. Not sure why. We ended up grabbing a 2-6 at the duty free liquor store and some Coke in our bar fridge (which were fucking $8 USD each) because we couldn't find an open convenience store nearby either.

The only things that were open were all the casinos, SOME clubs within the casinos and Club D2. Apparently that's the only club that actually picks up at around 1 or 2am. And I think it's because it's one of the only ones open. LOTS of prostitutes though. In the clubs, casinos and the streets, blatantly soliciting. Some, I'm not sure are 100% women.

As far as good experiences go, the Venetian was amazing. The malls within them are awesome. Club D2 was actually okay considering the circumstances we were in. Macau Tower was good too. If you want a cigar, some whiskey, a plush booth and hot women to chill with, the Playboy Club is the place to go. I actually enjoyed it there.

Seems odd. I'm with RBC and never had an issue at the Wynn.

You had me all stoked on the Playboy Club but it sounds like it closed.

I will probably head back to Hong Kong that evening as I have free accommodation there so what I could really use are good recommendations for afternoon drinking!
