Default Which Kickstarter Projects Have You Backed?

For the last 6 months or so I've been addicted to this website, backing all kinds of things. I'm assuming everyone here is familiar with how the website works, but if you aren't then I'll explain it briefly. If you have an idea for a product, you can present it on Kickstarter and people can back your project at predefined amounts of your choice ($20, $50, $5000). Each price level has an associated reward, so for $20 they might get a copy of your finished idea, for $50 they might get a copy plus a t-shirt. Or they might get their name on the product somewhere.

Anyway, here are the ones I backed, I'm hoping some other people will post interesting ones here I can check out as well.

    1. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...3-an-smbc-coll
Every day for over 5 years I've been reading geek comics at www.smbc-comics.com and they're hilarious. I bought 2 of his books from his website and this third one he put out as a Kickstarter project so I bought that one as well. He was trying to get $20,000 to make the book, he ended up getting $341,667 through Kickstarter.

    2. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...o9/mighty-no-9
From Keiji Inafune, the Capcom genius behind every original Mega Man game, comes Mighty No. 9, a very similar style game on updated hardware. He was trying to get $900,000 and ended up getting over $4,000,000.

    3. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...android-button
Pressy is a little button that slides into your headphone jack and when you press it, you can assign it to any action on your phone. So pressing it can unlock your phone or open an application. I thought it was genius.

    4. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...e-intelligence
Neurio: Home Intelligence. It's a little unit that connects at your breaker box and it monitors your home's electrical system. It allows you to control things in your home, monitor energy usage, and it'll also notify you if something seems out of order, like if you forget to turn on the dryer.

    5. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...hone-and-andro
Chipolo, this thing's pretty awesome. It's a little plastic disc that connects to your phone through bluetooth and also works as a GPS tracker. So you can put it on your dog's collar and if your dog gets lost, just look it up on your phone and go get it. Or put it on your keys so you don't lose them. It also works in reverse, if you have your Chipolo and can't find your phone, just shake the Chipolo and your phone will beep.

    6. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...gendary-rupees
Legendary Rupees. This is someone in Calgary making acrylic rupees straight out of the Zelda games in all the same colours.

    7. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...to-vehicle-obd
This one's really cool, it allows you to get real time reading from your car's OBD-II port straight to your phone wirelessly. You can also use it to control certain models like starting the engine and running the windows.

This is the only one I've supported, along with a few other people here.

The t-shirt I got out of it is one of my favourites (Not just the logo, fit and feel too), I keep meaning to ask the guy where he got it Poster goes great in my garage with other race themed stuff too.

Oh, and it was also a great movie

How is a GPS dog collar not already a thing? Shit, my cats stay indoors but I'd -still- buy something like that for them.

The obd one is interesting, plus ability to function as a hotspot, some left for 80 bucks, might jump on that one.

The OBD readers have been around for ages. I bought one years ago for my car for like $15 from China. Uses bluetooth to your phone, can view anything on it with gauges and shit.

The Chipolo works for 60ft. Geez if you can't find your dog within 60ft, you've got more problems.

The GPS ones are long range.

Some cool stuff here, but that bluetooth tracker is 100% useless on a dog due to the extremely short range limits of bluetooth in a tracking application.

That's part of the beauty of it though, when it goes out of range it'll notify your phone. And when it comes back within range it notifies you again. Great for when you assume your dog is nearby but you didn't realize it took off.

I think that this Reader is throwing data over wifi hence easier for iOS apps to read from.

But if you are on Android, $15 BT dongle and Torque Pro will have the same function of this $120 dongle just because you are stuck with Apple product.
