Once I discovered how bad Subway is for you.. I honestly don't remember the last time I ate there.

I avoid that place as well. Their chicken is mostly filler & chemical, if ex-employees are to be believed (also it tastes nothing like chicken). Their meats are also disgusting due to how processed they are. Can't comment on the veggies, they are probably not too bad.

All I typically ever get there are the deli meat stuff you'd get at safeway if I need to get something (like cold cut trio / ham or something) , hope those meats aren't horrible

^I stopped with the deli meats regularily for lunch after reading about how many nitrites are in it, I'll still eat it once in a while but now just bake a whole chicken and use that as sandwich meat.

Well those patties are just like Mcrib ones imo, very processed and reformed into chicken breast shapes.

Personally I'd rather goto Mr Sub overall, now that I think of it, solely because you can get canned mushrooms on your sub

edit: nitrites not nitrate(fertilizer lol) edit2: I guess theres nitrates AND nitrites in deli meat :/

    Nitrite compounds aren't all bad.

Nitrogen gas flushing isn't bad either. You are breathing 78% nitrogen gas right now. Nitrogen flushed, mylar sealed bags are the best protection against bacteria (and by far the safest method)

Oxygen decays food at an incredible rate. Oxygen is by far the worst gas (for food freshness that is)

A representative for Subway says the change was underway before the petition was launched.

Ick, I haven't eaten subway in years. And the last time I did, it was because I was driving through the middle of nowhere and it was the only option.

That sour stinky foot smell of the bread ensures I never eat at Subway. Now they are stinking up the lobby's of some Home Depots. Gross.

So, basically, everyone "says" that subway is bad for you, but nobody has any actual evidence other than typical food preservatives?

Pretty much. I find it funny they had to mention that the same chemical is used for "yoga mats and shoe rubber". Pretty benign compared to other chemicals out there used for both food and industrial uses.

Did you know corn is used to make fuel??!?!? Ohh the horrors! We should stop eating corn!

So where to eat then to avoid azodicarbonamide?

Companies which use azodicarbonamide in their products include Costco, Tim Hortons, Starbucks, McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, KFC, Arbys, Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut, Sobeys, Safeway, Walmart and probably most other places serving up baked goods. Mr. Sub I was not able to find info on but it appears that they buy their breads from the same company that provides breads for Subway, Safeway, etc so who knows if azodicarbonamide is in Mr. Subs buns or not.

Odd how the hate-on is for Subway and not really any of the other companies listed above. Even more interesting, the brand of bread we buy at Superstore (Country Harvest Sunflower Flax) does not have azodicarbonamide in it according to it's ingredient panel - a nice surprise I guess.
    Will fuck off, again.
