    Default Gym Headphones

What headphones do you guys like rocking at the gym? I see a lot of people rocking beats but I originally thought theu would be too big to workout bur now I'm warming up to the idea because I love my tunes when pumping some iron. Any recommendations?

I tried my beat pros at the gym and it was up and down.

Yes they are loud and cut out all the noise from around you. But that also means you can't hear anything or aren't aware of surroundings.

My only knock was how warm it made your ears + how much sweat accumulated in them. They needed to be wiped down well after every workout and lacked comfort most of the time near the end.

I just use my bose ie2 with volume control at the gym now. Leave the monster coppers for use elsewhere as I dont' feel like bringing those in the gym

I have tried a lot of "active" and "sports" headphones. They have all sucked, IMO.

I use SHURE SE215's for the gym and walking to work. They are only $100, sound amazing for the price (not much different and better tips than the Monster Copper Pro's), block out ALL noise (I can't hear people working out next to me, which is awesome), they stay in your ears throughout any workout, and they have a cinch on the cord to tighten them under your neck if you don't want them moving around. They also go around the back of your ears, which help attach them to your head.

What about the smaller Beats? They don't seem like they'd make you as hot? Do they sound pretty good? Or is there a comparable Monster version out there that's better?

I think the beat solos suck... but that is my opinion

Especially if you end up paying the full price of $200 or whatever they ask for them these days

This massive review thread might help you out...I don't think the beats are very good:

I use the Iron Man headphones and they are awesome! they never fall out either...doesn't matter what you do...they lock into your ears and I can't hear anything around me.

I have the older version of these ones: http://www.jaybirdsport.com/

Bluetooth connected, long battery life, they don't fall out. They usually have some good deals on amazon.

    I've run AKG K240's, Bose QC15's, and JVC HA-FXT90's.

The AKG's and Bose cans make your ears warm in a hurry. The JVC's are an IEM and work best for me with triple flange tips. If you do low intensity training or don't mind getting your headphones sweaty, get a set of cans. Otherwise IEM's all day long!

I am struggling with this myself. Recently got a pair of Beats by Dre Solo HD over the head style and I find it uncomfortable in the gym. In fact, I was thinking of selling them and see if I can secure the in ear style. I have never had over the head style before and that may be part of the reason I don't like them. The sound quality is amazing on these though. If anyone is interested give me a shout.

    I use this style:

    http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ.../10101383.aspx

They always stay on, comfortable enough, cheap in case they get broken, sound good enough and I can still hear what's going on around me so I can interact with other people. I actually find it pretty annoying when the gym is packed with people who are entirely oblivous to everything going on around them.

Lol I don't compromise on my music quality even when at the gym.

    I rock these: http://www.focal.com/en/hi-fi-headph...056725007.html

and even use a portable amp in my pocket too: http://www.head-fi.org/products/fiio-e11

Only on ab days or when I need to use a decline bench, I'll switch to in-ear headphones, and for those I use the Monster Copper Pro Turbines.

Anyone wearing Beats at the gym is just trying to hard.

Personally I gave up on using any sort of headphones at the gym as the wires always get in the way one way or another.

I don't like doing heavy weights and having worry about what the cord is doing and may cause me to get hurt.

    This.

I wear a small set of earbuds. I take them out when squatting/deading.

You can't lift seriously and with decent weights when you've got bigass headphones on. Not to mention the risk of damage...

There is a style which is behind the ear like BrknFngrs posted above and they are bluetooth. I think that would be perfect, if I can find it somewhere.
