crazy... all these cruisers wizzed by me, and then cornered off the mckenzie overpass and we had to wait until they redirected traffic off on that fly over....
Those pricks made me late for a hockey game
CBC says this:
If you have an F350 your truck just got marginally less likely to be stolen.Meghan Grant @CBCMeg 34m
Police Chief Rick Hanson: 2 people shot by officers last night were "very well known" to police. Had been involved in similar incident #cbc
Meghan Grant @CBCMeg 32m
They were driving stolen truck in "extremely dangerous & erratic" way, driving on sidewalks, paths, hit/run & went wrong way on D'foot #cbc
Meghan Grant @CBCMeg 29m
Police boxed them in and driver tried to ram cops w/ truck. Two tac team officers opened fire (15+ shots). He died, she's critical #cbc
Meghan Grant @CBCMeg 26m
The two officers who shot suspects are w/ tac team & have 12&18 years w/ CPS. One was involved in another fatal shooting 2 years ago #cbc
Meghan Grant @CBCMeg 19m
Chief says woman was shot by police b/c she took actions that clearly demonstrated intention to harm..injuries weren't accidental #cbc
And this is a surprise.
The Police told me specifically they DO NOT chase or Engage stolen trucks, especially the dangerous bigger ones, like the one tons.
I guess this is a game changer. no longer a guaranteed getaway.
Sounds like this guy was already up to no good prior to trying to flee from the police in a stolen F350.
I would imagine for just "random guy who stole a truck" they'd approach the problem differently, but apparently there was a report of shots fired in Copperfield that sparked the whole thing. Otherwise I assume tac team guys wouldn't be on site.
They don't usually chase them depending on how you think about it.Originally posted by Toma

They'll send out the helicopter and follow the individuals. If they deem the driving to be a risk to public safety (such as multiple hit-and-runs, driving the wrong way down deerfoot in this case) then they will engage.
As I understand it, police will chase you regardless of the vehicle if the initial incident is serious enough... the officers were responding to a shots fired call, and this was the getaway truck from that incident, leading to the chase and shooting.Originally posted by Toma

2 weeks ago i was working at the traffic lights on 17ave ne and 84st, and a silver f350 went flying past us with 2 cops on him. city limits are a couple hundred meters past there and the cops stopped, the helicopter stayed on him as far as i could see. probably another stolen truck. the cops closed the road for a little while.
I think if they didn't shoot first somewhere else, they probably won't chase.Originally posted by Toma

Only downside to this is that the passenger will keep costing the system money.

More updates:
Here's a story about his previous attempt to get five stars.Meghan Grant @CBCMeg 1h
Confirmed: Couple shot by police last night accused of similar incident last year. ID'd as Jason Gary Roy & Ashley Jennifer Silver #cbc
Meghan Grant @CBCMeg 1h
The pair were not supposed to be in contact w/ each other or be in a vehicle after facing charges for ramming RCMP cruiser last March #cbc
I lol'd re: previous attempt to get 5 stars. Great Gta reference
He's clearly a noob. The Deerfoot mess would have only got him 2 stars.Originally posted by eglove

Apparently there were gun shots at the original location in copperfield and thats when the cops got called.
Then he tried to outrun hawc's and was clipping and smashing into cars attempting to escape.
They said he went north on the southbound lanes of deerfoot and that's where they boxed him in. He tried to smash his way through so they opened up.
Glad this career criminal piece of shit isn't going to tie up the court systems and jails.

Why are all the articles pretty much summarizing that one of the what 8? officers that opened fire has a "violent" past being involved in another use of deadly force in the past?
fricken Calgary Sun... are all articles ran by anarchist conspirators?
Its probably as close to reading a paper written comptely by ZenOps, Toma, Arash, and Modolexis
Good riddance...+1 CPS

tac team I would hope would have previous experience in these situations. Two d-bags dealt with as should have been done, I see zero issue with how it ended. No civilians where hurt, no officers hurt, only the criminals. obviously the justice system didnt work, likely wouldnt have again. Only feel for the officers involved and how they now have to deal with what happened.

Reasons why Drumheller area wouldn't make a good race track venue...
