    Cool Jaguar XE: Next 3-Series Fighter

    http://jalopnik.com/the-jaguar-xe-wi...-an-1535942498

    A baby XF on an aluminum frame? I'm excited, especially if it looks as good as the Jaguar lineup!

    Jaguar has a tendency to offer more bang for the buck so a $30k RWD Jaaag more loaded than the equivalent 3-series/C-Class? YES PLEASE,

    "The new Jaguar XE is every bit a modern Jaguar; more compact in size but visually striking. Customers will expect a great deal from a mid-size Jaguar - it must be practical but premium. We never forget we are designing a Jaguar and that means it must be as exciting to look at and drive as it is brilliant to run and practical to own. We believe we've done just that with the Jaguar XE."

    aside from the garbage 80s and early 90s stuff, how reliable is the 'modern' Jag? I had a friend who's parents had a 2004 Vanden Plas XJ8, of course we used to take it out for joy rides, but I just remember it being A: a gas hog and B: boring luxury in a non German/Japanese way, just very bland but all the things you want.

    The newer Jag lineup is owned by Tata Motors, which also owns Land Rover. Their quality has gone up to match their designs,

    LOL so many things wrong with this phrase. 3/5 for reliability isn't exactly inspiring.
    You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!

    Whenever I see someone driving a new Jaguar I marvel at how rich they must be. How else could they afford the massive depreciation?

    Are Jags made in India these days? If so, that's a whole lotta rupees imo.

    Beautiful car though, much more of a head turner than a BMW/C series. Jags have always had aggressive front end styling, similar to another favorite of mine: Maserati.

    Those SC V8 packages are stupid; everything is basically the same except for engine output (AKA programming change). An additional $15,000 for 40hp or $31,000 for 80hp, ooh but it gets you an ultra exclusive pass thru rear seat to even the deal... Deal of the century right...

    If you were considering this car, your money would be better spent going back to your astrologist and having them pick again.

    So far only Jags sold in India is built in India.

    All other Jags are from UK.

    But I can see they pull a Volvo soon as I as they go down market starting with XE, they can't afford to use 1st world labor.

    For most low end models (either now or soon be):
    BMW and Merc = American
    Audi = Mexican
    Jag = Indian
    Volvo = Chinese

    Back to XE. Looks good. Interior is ok and can be horrible if they don't use top grade material on the top half. Definitely has signs of Land Rover in the center stack.

    Still, if it's 3300lbs with the supercharged 6, it could be a nimble 3 series fighter in deed.

    0-60 in 4.9 for S model. Up there with 335i and S4.

    Had an X-type, beautiful car, stunning interior for what I paid compared to 3 series etc. It was a lemon; made the dealer take it back after 6 months.

    Girlfriend had a range rover sport. She loved driving it and it was probably the most comfortable SUV Ive ever ridden in. Too bad we spent more time driving the loaner Evoque over the 6 months she had it before we sold it for a huge loss.

    Lesson learned: Jags/Land rovers are absolutely the most beautiful and most comfortable piles of junk on the market.

    Until Im able to shit platinum credit cards I won't even test drive one.
