    Default 110v Welders

Wondering if anyone works or knows someone who might be able to help me.

I'm looking into purchasing a 110v welder as I don't have the means to hook up a 220v welder nor am I welding anything massive. The stuff I'd be welding would be all small metal nothing large.

I'm looking to spend around the $300-350 range and I've seen Canadian Tire and Home Depot sell units as well as KMS Tools etc.

Thought maybe someone could give me a decent hookup?

I was in the same situation. I went with the Lincoln 140. It's still a homeowner series with a pretty low duty cycle but at least you can hook gas up to it. It quite often goes on sale for ~$450 but you'd spend that much to add gas equipment to the CDN tire brand ones.

Now if I only didn't suck so bad at welding.

Don't forget kijiji, you can find higher quality machines around that price range on there sometimes.

If you take anything I have to say seriously, you're gunna have a bad time.

Yeah most of those units sell fast.

There was a used one on there for $225 with bottle and wire.

I would go with the Lincoln migpak 140. Canadian tire just had them on sale I think.

Apparently KMS Tools to have a house brand called Unison. Can't find many reviews on it but think I'll take a look:

Hobart is also a good name available locally, and usually a bit less expensive than Miller or Lincoln.

I've personally had horrible experiences with KMS and will not shop there again. Besides, KMS does not warranty or repair either Lincoln or Miller if you need it. And places like Air Liquide and Praxair can meet or beat KMS prices on most things.

Just want to update this and say I scored a good deal off of Kijiji.

A guy was selling a Hobart Handler 140 for a VERY VERY good price and couldn't pass it up so I grabbed it.

There was a free mig cart on kijiji yesterday, check if it's there.

Yeah I tried for it, there was a mig pak140 and another handler 140 for $350 so that's a great deal on a hobby welder.

I am really looking at the thermal arc t211i. It's a combo 110/220 that does mig, stick and tig, even aluminum gun ready. Bought a project now my want vs need side is going nuts.

Totally know what you mean.. My want is taking over my need and I have to reign myself in.

I unfortunately do not have a enclosed garage.. I have a tarp shelter so when the weather sucks its not fun being outside.

Perhaps call me crazy but $100 for a piece of thin metal to haul my gear around is not what I consider cheap :P

My dad, brother and uncles taught me that the first project you do with a new welder, cutting torch/plasma cutter, etc. is to build a cart for it

Totally good advice if you are learning. These days however, with how cheap shit from china is, i look at it like this. My time is money, my materials are money. If it costs me less time and money to buy it, im buying it (=. I dont need practice building shit

Good point. I thought the OP was brand new to welding and welders, but upon reading the first post again, that's maybe not an accurate assumption

OP: nice score on the Hobart! I'm sure you'll be quite happy with it.
