    Default PACMAN FROGS..anyone own one?

Besides riverfront aquariums, anyone knows where else I can get terrarium equipment in NE/NW? Just independent stores please (ie no petsmart, petcetera, petland, etc)

As said, Pisces, or Big (gay) Al's on 32nd. It's a chain, but a smaller one.

Big Al's is technically a chain store but you are most likely to find a tank there the cheapest, J &J's is by far the cheapest for any reptile you could be looking for, usually half the price of pisces/ big al's

I'd go to Big Al's for anything I wanted to buy, I like the guys at Riverfront Aquariums but damn, their prices are whack. Their starfish are something like 150% the price of Big Al's and much less selection. I found Pisces to be way overpriced as well, they had a Green Tree Snake for something like $1500 when you can get them for around $800 privately. And the one time I went in there to buy crickets for my spiders, they couldn't answer any of my questions about anything.

Thanks for mentioning me. For small terrariums I am not competitive with the overseas made Zoo med/Exoterra type cages. I would suggest going to J&J's. He is a good friend of mine and also my business partner for the Western Canadian Reptile Expo in Red Deer.

For animals you have to understand that a pet store has a lot of overhead cost that factors into their animal/product pricing. People with a reptile hobby business are really only trying to cover their costs, make a little bit and a generally not factoring in any overhead costs like food, electricity etc into their pricing. I would say 95% of the time you will find cheaper pricing on animals through private breeders. Jim does have some amazing pricing on animals though. He is in the business at the retail side and the hobby side as well, so typically he can get much better pricing than any of the other pet stores who have to go through wholesalers.

OP What supplies are you looking for specifically?

About riverfront, I cant in my good conscience shop at a place that houses 4 adult snakes together, 2 huge tegus on aspen in a tiny enclosure and got knows how many offensive things to anyone who has a clue about housing reptiles in captivity.

Pisces is fairly overpriced on most livestock, snake morphs are ridiculous.

As for that dragons den guy, who in their right mind would buy those silly things!! I swear there aren't at least 3 of them around my house!! ( Hey Greg)

Well what I have in mind are

    ceramic heater
    lighting (Day and night?)
    timer for lighting
    thermostat for ceramic heater
    digital thermometer
    digital hygrometer
    water conditioner
    water dish
    substrate
    fake plants

I guess pretty much the bare minimum?

For the lighting and heating, is it better to have both of them separately? Or should I go with lighting that also gives off heat? The tank will probably sit on the 2nd flr where there's a window (not right by it of course)..but then it may be in the basement.

Misting..well I guess I can just manually use a spray bottle and do it several times a day

What size of cage are you planning on using? I can supply a bunch of that stuff as well but I don't sell water conditioner, dishes, fake plants. I don't sell the hydro meter but do sell temp guns. The other option for both of those is those remote thermometer/hydro meter from Walmart. Thermostats (proper ones) start at $135 depending on the features you want. You may have meant a rheostat which are much cheaper but a lot less reliable as it is basically just a dimmer switch. I used to sell those as well but they are cheap for a reason and the complaints weren't worth continuing to sell them.

You should take a look at the spring reptile shows that are coming up, I remember picking up a pacman frog for 15 bucks a few years ago.

I don't know if Jim has any right now but he is friends with Yuseke(Sp?) who owns Samurai reptiles in Japan. The morph of pacman frogs he has turned out is insane. He usually goes the the huge reptile shows in the US and Jim has brought a bunch back from the Reptile Super Show in Pomona CA a couple of times.

You want to see a real reptile show, that one is insane.
