Default Looking for last minute vacation

    Hey guys,

We are looking to go to an all-inclusive from March 29 - April 5 or March 30 - April 6. After looking on Expedia, RedTag, iTravel2000, etc, it looks like we'll likely end up in Mexico (no interest in going back to Cuba). We've went on quite a few trips, but most have been for weddings where we haven't had to dig into places. So far, we are basing it on 4.5+ stars, all-inclusive, and then its TripAdvisor rating. Problem is that anything with a good rating on TripAdvisor is close to $3000 for the two of us (including taxes). We found one for $2200, but its rating on TA is crap.

Anyone have any other ideas/avenues to explore? If we have to bit the bullet and pay we will, but the prices seem high to me, especially for March-April.

    Thanks!

You are looking at peak travel dates thanks to spring break/Easter. Aside from Jan/Feb this is the most expensive time of year to travel south.

Pricing sounds about right. I recently booked an all inclusive for March 29-April 5 in Ixtapa for $1460 each. 4 or 4.5 star depending which site you look at. Really nice resort from everything I can find online.

Let us know how this goes for you. I won't go back to PV due to the swarms of ignorant locals that buy weekend stays for the buffets at the "5 stars" there.

Locals support tourism just as much as Canadians do. We get special resident rates with Canadian hotel chains, same thing goes in Mexico. What you deem as ignorant may be the norm down there.

For anyone else looking still (or similar dates), found a couple good deals via Flightcentre:

March 28 - one week AI
    Riu Emerald Bay (Mazatlan)
    5* (4/5 on TA)
    $1180 cad/pp

April 3 - one week AI
    Riu Santa Fe (Cabo)
    4 1/2* (4/5 TA)
    $1290 cad/pp

I lived in Mex for 3 months and have zero issues with their locals.

I hope you realize how ignorant/ethnocentric you sound. Probably the same guy that goes on Trip Advisor and complains that Mexican hotels serve Mexican food....

I just got back from Ixtapa yesterday. Spent about $1050/person.

Weather was perfect, resort was plenty good for the price. Tons of domestic tourism over the weekend, but that's pretty formal for the west coast in my experience. It can be a headache when there are no tables available in the restaurant and the pool is so crowded you cant even move around in it. But that just gives more reason to leave the resort and go explore for a few days. No worries.
I can eat more hot wings than you.
