Default Anyone driving down to the states and back?

    Hey there,
This may be a long shot or a lot to ask... BUT
Im looking to see if anyone is going to be driving down to the states and back that could possibly pick me up wheels? Im looking at getting ESM 002's and avoiding the stupid brokerage fees and shit. If anyone could possibly even guide me with suggestions? Anything is appreciated!
    Thanks!

At the border storage in Sweetgrass.
Used them for my crate engine. Not even 5 mins from the border crossing.

I've used the Montana Shipping Outlet which is also just across the border in sweetgrass twice and have had great results. It's about an 8 hour round trip depending on border wait and your driving speed.

If you take anything I have to say seriously, you're gunna have a bad time.

Hmm. My dads friend also has a private cabin in Kalispell Montana. Is there any downsides to using the shipping outlet? Other than probably being closer to the border and get out asap? haha. Thanks again guys!

Maybe we should have a group buy.

On a side note, if you get around to ordering those rims straight from ESM, and don't already know, use the promo code: VW14 15% off.

US Cutoms and Border Protection won't let you in without a passport.

+1 For At the Border Storage

I've used them before and they were great with reasonable fees. This time I'm trying out Montana Shipping Outlet (they are both right next door to each other if anyone is wondering) as MSO is open on more Saturdays than At the Border Storage.

Does anybody know if I will have to pay tax/duty on used stuff? I bought a set of used track wheels and slightly used racing slicks I've only ever brought new stuff across before I guess the wheels are made in USA so per NAFTA no duty but the Continental slicks I have no idea where they are made lol.

PS: If someone has a small package they would like me to pick up for them PM me, I'll be going down most likely on April 11th.

So when u pick up your parcel from MSO and at the canada border they dont charge duty for these things? I wanna do this too but its not worth it if I still have to duty and other fees.

You are still required to pay gst on the goodies and if applicable duties. However the border people are more lenient than the shipping companies as well as you don't get rapped by brokerage fees (cough fuck you ups)

I go approximately once every 45 days. Generally, I use At The Border Storage, but Montana Shipping Outlet is in same parking lot, and they don't seem as busy, and ATBS is getting too busy for my impatience. lol

It's $5 a box, and they will hold for 90 days for that amount. Envelopes I think are $3, really big shit is $7.

You go there, BRING US CASH (all they take), pick your shit up. (it's sorted by your name, but good idea to bring tracking numbers for when they can't locate something)

Drive to border, have your receipts. They will ask total, be honest, I got searched one in 5 times.

Go inside, give receipts, they will total, and charge appropriate taxes and duties.

GST is on everything. Duties if manufactured in a non free trade country, though they often don't dig very deep.

Tires you will also have to pay tire tax.

The savings over Canada Post is only in freight charges. Over UPS, it's also the ~$50 brokerage fee.

But, So many places ship for free within the US, that's why I do it. I accumulate $2 to $5k of shit, and make a run. I can save $1000 pretty easy on freight.

No, I will not got pick your shit up. Then I would need a power of attorney letter from you to import and pick your shit up, and I'm usually full (had to take my truck and a trailer last time lol)!

Thanks for the tips on the border storage. I just talked to Jeannie at 'At the Border Storage', seems like a good outfit. I'm having a car dropped off there and they'll hold it for up to a week in a gated compound for $25.

It's saving me a ton as shipping a Z06 from AZ to Sweet Grass MT is only going to cost me $750-$900, while getting it shipped the extra 3.5 hours to Calgary costs ~$3000 total.

In case anyone is wondering I recently got back from picking up a set of used track wheels and a couple sets of slightly used racing slicks and I had to pay GST, no duty and no Alberta Tire Tax though.
