Default Bought a condo - they didn't include a mail key

    Hey all,

I was wondering if I might be able to get some help with this.

I just purchased a condo and at the sale I didn't receive a mail key, and have had the place for a good month now without one.

At this point, it looks like I will need to get a locksmith to get a new key. The selling realtor has been good, but I just want to make sure that its reasonable for me to ask for that to be paid for by either the realty company or the seller.

Unfortunately its not a community box so Canada Post couldn't help me.

NZwasp, did you bill the cost of that to the realtor/seller? Seems like having a mail key to a key component of the Condo would be a requirement.

yes, the cost of a mail key is the responsibility of the selling realtor/owner.

my condo was missing the mail key, had to get a locksmith out and it cost me 90 bucks, i was reimbursed by the seller.

The realtor most likely would not cover your cost for the mail key replacement but doesn't hurt to ask and see what they can do for you. You might want to check your contract to see if the mail key is listed of what is included when you take procession. Normally the realtor would list, 5 piece of appliance, garage door, main door key x2, mail key etc to be delivered on procession date. If that's the case then you push back to the realtor. Else you will most likely have to cover the cost yourself.

Nope. In my case I think some kid shoved a coin or something in the lock and so the key wouldn't work turn properly. I cant remember how much it cost but it wasn't much. Like $15 or something.

When I purchased my home I was told my Jayman to go to the nearest sorting facility for my keys, there was actually a desk there that had them for each corresponding address

My condo keys fell out of my bag somewhere on a westjet flight, called yesterday to affordable locksmiths and they want to charge $110 + GST for new lock and keys on my condo mailbox.

condo fob cost $200 to replace so this is turning out to be a quite the mistake (never put your keys in a side pouch of your bag )
