I usually take on a project in the winter during my free time while I'm not distracted by nice weather.
I don't do 3D for a living although I would like to maybe get a job in Solidworks. Still need to get more practice in that program before I look for a job using it.
As you can tell from my progress screenshots I didn't take much care or time in tracking my progress since I didn't want to get hung up on feedback every step along the way.
In the past I've got too dependent on feedback and it's slowed my progress.
The pictures show where I am currently, here is a list of things I still want to accomplish:
-Rear brake caliper model missing
-Electronic box on sprocket side of engine missing
-Steering stabilizer missing
-Brake lines & clutch lines missing
-Brake and clutch reservoir incomplete
-Some graphics missing from body panels
-Radiator, either texture or model the mesh
After I'm satisfied with those areas I want to move on to build a background scene for the bike(s)
I'm thinking something along the lines of a shop bay in the paddock of a race track with a couple of bikes in the shop with some tool boxes around and fairing removed from one of the bikes.
Any suggestions for a backdrop or ideas for an environment to place it in please post up a reference photo and let me know what you think.
Human models and rigging/animating are a bit of a weak spot for me so I don't foresee a rider being done any time soon.
Modeled in Maya - Rendered in Maxwell Render.
