You could file a paper return?

I'm sure it would go quickly since you are already done?

If you owe you have to file taxes every year. If you are getting a refund you are not required to file, and you can file this year for up to five years

    like dirtsniffer said
if you are getting a refund there is no reprecussion in filing late
the only thing is those quarterly gst payments that are issued every 3 months and for those of you that have kids if you get cctb, then you have to get your income tax returns done latest by sometime in may
but for you i think you can either paper file or just wait until you get back.

If you file late, they count it against you regardless of whether you owe or not. So if you file late again in the next 3 years, the penalty is compounded based on the number of times you file late.

    File a paper return.

*not a tax professional but know this from experience. haha

If you were charged a late-filing penalty in one of the previous three years and are late filing your income taxes again, the CRA will charge a penalty of

ten percent of the balance owing for the current year and
two percent of the balance owing for each full month that your current income tax return is late, to a maximum of 20 months.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I filed my corporate taxes 3-5 months late for 2007,08 and 09. I was penalized every time and the penalty was always under $100.

I think most software can create PDFs of the return if you choose to file by mail. I was going to file electronically yesterday. Well I'll just wait another week, it should still be faster than paper return.

Due to recent hole found in OpenSSL encryption they've shutdown their online filing service until it is sorted out.

Unfortunately this OpenSSL hole affects most sites running on APACHE servers. Supposedly Microsoft servers are unaffected as they run their own blend of SSL.

If you are doing it on a computer, just setup RDP and RDP to it from wherever you are and hit the submit button.

Wow, really? Email a PDF copy to yourself.

Print at Staples or at work. Drop off at Harry Hays and they will send it in for free.

You have 20 days between now and then ...? You don't know anyone with a computer/printer that you can use for 5 minutes?

Can't do that at Harry Hays. CRA office is gone.

NETFILE/EFILE will probably be back online before kaput heads on vacation anyway.

I guess the Heartbleed thing is alot bigger than just Intuit Turbotax, lots of places with Open SSL:

    Potential list

Some places you might want to consider changing that password I guess: The Heartbleed Hit List: The Passwords You Need to Change Right Now

There is no office, but there is still a blue drop box. So you could drop stuff off in there.
