We haven't won anything. The bylaw still stands, and can be abused to ticket a Prius as too loud. The article just states that noisy vehicles are not a priority this summer.

He should get a noise violation every time he opens his mouth (probably types loud while yelling at his computer)

Based on the style of their articles, they should rename it The Calgary Pun.

    Offroad,

By stating "We won", to which are you referring?

    1) The noise snair in of itself?

    2) The deferral of punishing obnoxiously loud vehicle owners who yell "Pay attention to me!"?

I'd like to know who the "we" is that offroad was referring to because I don't recall any organized group doing any true fighting.
    Will fuck off, again.

We did a lot of fighting that got nowhere. Letters to alderman, mayor's office, all ignored. We weren't fighting the noise snare though, we were fighting the bylaw itself and wanted it corrected.

I for one am for the noise snare. Maybe it'll get those little shits to stop dropping gears and flooring it through residential sections at 11:30pm on a Tuesday.

As am I, it's just that the bylaw wording can be abused because there is no distance reference to the noise measurement.

"we" probably meaning Beyond, and all the threads asking why the bylaw is so flawed.

That's pretty lame if that's what he meant by "we" because even though there was some effort made by a few people as rage2 pointed out, it was by no means no great ground swell of opposition.

I think another type of ticket would be more of a deterrent than "car to loud"... Noise snare wouldn't stop any of this behavior

... So? A lot of people disagreed with it, why does that bother you?

Just because people disagree with something doesn't mean they're fighting against it.

I know loud when I hear it, all Harley Davidson motorcycles, fart cans and diesel rig pigs ought to get a ticket. Right there we'd clear 80% of the noise issues. Anything to make this city less irritating is right by me.
