Plex integration with DVR capability is a big plus. Anyone know if there's an add-on to cut out commercials in recordings using SiliconDust & Plex DVR?

I have this one (it used to be a lot cheaper at $40) Recorded ok to USB stick at full HDTV ATSC bitrate, but then I sort of just gave up on it and attached directly to TV. There are probably far better ones out there now.

i have one when it does work it works very well and records full bitrate

has the occasional reboots. the AC cord is about 1.5ft long

Can anyone suggest an antenna that works in Okotoks to get Calgary stations? I bought this one from Amazon and it works but only if I stand in a specific spot in the room with it held at a specific angle and a specific height.

You need to find the ota broadcast maps. I think they are on the internet. Try that before you mess with antennas.

Oh...........I see. I didn't know there was a map, I just thought the signals were everywhere like SETI. I'll take your advice and get an attic mounted antenna as per the broadcast map.

There are regions inside the city with very bad coverage due to being in the shadow of various landforms. This stuff is mostly line-of-sight unlike AM radio etc.

If you had two antennas pointed in different directions and used a splitter to bring the signal to one cable.
Does that work? I'm assuming not but am asking.

But you can see that all the signals are coming from basically the same direction. There's no need to point antennae in multiple directions.

These channels are very weak and will most likely require extreme measures to try and pick them up
    Sounds unlikely for Okotoky.

Don't mix up the crank shots he sent you with the crank shots that I continuously send you!

Forgive me if I missed it...even though it's probably out of date if it's there...

Are there Free-to-Air Satellite channels in this part of the world?

Just since you get more range with satellite, you'd be able to pick up channels from a wider area with no issue.

I used to be able to pick up all the regional variations of the BBC back home with an old satellite dish hooked directly into the antenna port of the TV

Unencrypted FTA Satellite TV, I remember PBS broadcast this way and a lot of other state backed TV channels. Commercial channel all goes to encrypted route.

    Probably repeated this somewhere but:

If you want the exact coordinates, the transmitter tower is 51.064831, -114.214166 . If you put it in google maps, you can go to satellite view and see the long casted shade of that tower when they took the satellite photo.

But basically for 99% of people, just point it toward Canada Olympic Park (they now call it WinSport, the ski jump hill)

As for antenna, many people can get away with a four bowtie like: https://www.primecables.ca/p-356275-...or-both-vhfuhf but make sure to remove the bunny ears, you only need the bowties.

For long distance I use the Digiwave ANT2190. Be aware though, its a solid two meters long.

Either can be used indoors (if you have room that is) attic or outdoors.

I appreciate his response but I have no idea why he said that, I didn't send him anything.

I'm going to get this one and mount it in the attic. According to the map, I should be fine with this. Does anyone have any opinoin?

Its good for high quality Saturday NHL games and Sunday NFL games, and local news.

There was a point in time when people were worried that the internet would catastrophically fail. If it ever does, everyone who uses IPTV is out of luck. Some see it like SPAM, a really good emergency backup. Others do use it as primary when you want to be sure your internet is unhindered, especially if you live in an area with only cellular internet or expensive data.

So people who use antennae: Poor people like me, or rich people with next to nowhere mansions.
