Florida natives still wear winter coats in December because to them it's cold the same way we find April cold. Hell, I see Asians here wearing winter coats when it's 15 degrees out. I walk by them in shorts and sandals.

That was me. Shorts, sandals and t-shirt, waiting in line for Bruce Campbell while it was snowing. Right after I was in the Corral and left because I had to go find out where Bruce Campbell was going to be so I could line up.......only to find out it was going to be in the Corral and I couldn't go back in. I had to walk aaaaaaaaaaall the way around to stand in line for 30 minutes.

Still, I really am surprised at the attendance numbers... last year, 63k felt extremely crowded. This year? nearly 100k and I didn't feel as if the hall was overcrowded at all.

My only real question is, the Expo has said that they will need to expand beyond the BMO and Big 4 if growth continues at this rate.... so where the hell else in Calgary can handle 150k+ attendees? o_O

My only thought is that they might have to take over the Grandstand and the Agrium, and if they outgrow that.... hold some panels in the Saddledome (imagine a Dr Who panel with 10k attendees. 1k attendees was loud enough o_O) and use the Saddledome concourse for tables/vendors. Either that, or split the Con to two venues (Stampede Park and Telus Convention center, maybe)

I used archive.org last night to check out the expo website from a couple of years back and it was very interesting to see how much tickets cost and how the guests have changed over the years. Data only goes back as far as 2006 and there were a lot of nobodies at those shows. Then within only 3-4 years it was one of the largest events in Calgary, ticket prices tripled and now you have guests like Sigourney Weaver.

    Ticket prices in 2006 were:
    - adult: $10
    - child: $1

    Then in 2007 it was:
    - adult: $15
    - child: $2

Now I think it's around $25 a day for an adult (or more) and kids are way more as well. I'm impressed with whomever is responsible for the growth.

Picked up a few items from the Comic Expo. Had a blast, I missed a bunch of stuff though. I didn't get a chance to go to the Big Four, I should buy a 4 day pass next time.

Excuse the crappy cell phone pics:

Unfortunately, I missed Kevin Eastman, Alfonso Ribeiro and a few others and I was contemplating a Nick Bradshaw sketch but I forgot about it at the end of the day.

This also blew my mind, and I saw this movie like 3 or 4 times in my lifetime. Didn't know he played "Buggin Out" in "Do the Right Thing".

What was in the Big Four? I didn't go over there neither but I didn't even know until now there was anything there.

Also you might already know this but the slim plastic clear pieces on Soundwave's arms and shoulders are specifically meant for holding Laserbeak, the bird will actually clip on there. It looks in the picture like it's just balanced there.

Big four was actors and media stars. Also, photo ops areas, as well as some last minute vendors that snapped up extra space when they annouced its availability. Next year, probably media stars both floors, and Halls D&E in BMO will more than likely be vendor space (just a wild wild WILD guess)

As long as I didn't miss anything important. If someone was selling a Quadruple U over there I would have been upset. I asked every vendor if they had one and came up craps.

Bit of a late post, but it was my first time at Calgary Expo.
Had a 4-day pass, and checked it out over (last) weekend...

    ---

Got a photo op with Jessica, Lindsay, and Monika, which was great.
Got my photo signed later on...and they were actually all really nice/fun to talk with at their (autograph) tables!

Here's just one of a couple pics I had signed:

Here's some couple quick pics of some goodies I picked up as well:

Was cool to find Flash #34 (Jan '90) there, and had to pick it up as it's from my birth month/year.

All in all...was a great (first) experience at the Expo.
Loved seeing all the unique and different costumes, talking/meeting people in lines, etc.

Hi, fellow forumers. I also got a 4-day pass. I've spent quite a bit of time filming cosplayers. The remaining two days have been mostly hanging around with groups of friends there. Since I have a full-time job, editing more than 50 videos is quite a cumbersome experience. Today, I just finished it and it is now up on YouTube. Enjoy

btw, Jess called me by my name in front of my friends at the photo-op. Dunno how she remembered me

Never really understood the appeal to Witchblade.

Alongside X-Men, it was one of the first series I ever read and started to collect. Also, I am a HUGE fan of Michael Turner's art.

Also, it's just a badass comic

Let's cut to the chase here. Did anyone capture a good photo of the Mystique cosplayer that was mentioned earlier?

She's in several shots already posted, however she changed form just before each photo was taken.
