    Default Summer camp for kids

Maybe some Beyonders can point me in the right direction.

I have a 9 year old family friend/adopted sister/daughter etc. Anyway she's addicted to minecraft like most kids are but for the summer is there some program I can put her into instead of having her stare at the computer all day?

I tried to teach her swimming but she wasn't having any of that so anyway.

    TIA

Try looking into Summer camps offered by the Zoo or Science Center.

YMCA offers summer programs as well.

    Martial arts school?

It really depends on her interests and encouraging her to perhaps try new ones.

For social skills building I would recommend a community soccer league or any team sport or Brownies.

Canada Olympic Park has some camps we've put our kids in that they've enjoyed (same age group).

Girls seem to enjoy horse camps as well (Griffin Valley).

Send her to cooking and waitressing camp. aka: your restaurant where she'll learn some real life skills.

Both my girls went to Camp Cadicasu in K-country.
Nice thing is that electronics are not allowed.

My daughter went here last year and absolutely loved it:

She's signed up to go again this year, really great experience for her.

There's pre-reqs for those called dishwashing, vacumming, and mopping.

    Mad science, Bricks4kids.

And surprisingly, check out Calgary Parks and Rec. Many programs, and they have a nice search interface that lets you narrow according to age and type of program. One of my kids is going to skateboard camp this summer.

I look forward to hearing about other camps... wife is off this summer, and we have the chance to get the kids into another camp.
