    Default Variable mortgage for 1.99%

Looks like rates are dipping further.

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/inve...1-99-1.2641367

Canada's mortgage market was shaken up with a mortgage rate below two per cent on Tuesday as Investors Group unveiled a three-year variable rate mortgage at 1.99 per cent.

The Winnipeg-based financial services firm posted the rate on its website Tuesday, offering a 36-month term at a variable rate 101 basis points below IG's current prime rate of three per cent.

Damnit, I renewed early because I thought they were going back up. Ahh well, I've got 2.9%, and it isn't like fixed is about to drop by an entire percent.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

Just got fixed rate at 2.79%. I'm happy with that.

Where'd you get fixed @ 2.79? Is that 5 yr or less?

This particular one is 3 year. I have heard that the same rate is availible for 5 year, but I have reasons why 3 year is appropriate for me. it's through Purcell Mortgage, who i think is a forum sponsor.
