He's been in deep with the bike lobby for quite some time.

Wrong. During the winter in particular it got to the point where at least once a week she'd call me with "there hasn't been a train in 45min, there's no announcement as to why and there's 200 people standing in the cold" So I'd back track, pick her up and just drive her to work. Well how many times do you think it took before I just started driving her to work everyday?
Sounds about right. Oh well, our city council likes to think they're progressive. I'm sure they'll think of some alternative to transit for people that like to be on time for work.

Maybe some sort of ring road to alleviate traffic. That sounds like it'd work.

This artsy fartsy, we must live in a green utopia bullshit will one day come to an end. Unfortunately when it does, projects that would have actually helped the city function will cost 10x as much to complete.

It will come to an end. But by then there will be no money to fix it, and the problems will be much much worse. It isn't just Calgary, these morons are taking over the continent. Detroit is the perfect example of continuing to spend on absurd self-serving projects until the government is broke. Then, rinse and repeat in all cities until we are all broke, but we will have some nice colors on some cloth, and some twisty pieces of metal. Fuck humanity, mostly hippies.

I don't think that's even close to what happened in Detroit.
