Well I'm not a post whore here, and I've only been around since '03 or so, but it seems to me like this forum caters to all sorts of enthusiasts. There is an active off-road section and lots of non-sports car project cars that are owned by true enthusiasts. Sports cars and exotics aren't the only kind of car for enthusiasts, and judging by some of the folks I've met who drive exotics but couldn't tell you a damned thing about them, exotic ownership doesn't make you an automatic enthusiast either. Go read through the build thread where the guy is dropping Porsche money to perfectly restore an old SR5 Corolla just because it means something to him, or the guy restoring an old Isuzu you can't even buy parts for, for reasons I cannot begin to comprehend, then tell me those fuckers aren't true enthusiasts just because they aren't driving a leased M3 or whatever you're in to.

You were talking about $180k+, which is the highest category on the poll. My coworker with the old Jeep project definitely fits in that category. If there was a $1mm+ category on the poll with 40+ responses, I might see your point.

Yea define enthusiast? I like my cars but have only performed a tire change over once in my life and never changed my own oil before. i'm sure you guys know more about my cars than i do. I drive them because they are fast and look good, and just so happens to be sorta baller.

So only if you spend 100k on the purchase price its a nice car? if I spend 100k on parts and mods on a 1500.00 car it can't be nice?

Sigh I've really started feeling old lately when I read a post, and the next thought that comes to my mind is how old is this poster...

I'm a fair bit younger than you and found myself wondering the same thing; it's not your age thats making you wonder.

Fact is, if you are making $200k+ a year and have a passion for cars.

Chances are your going to have a fucking nice one.

nope... you are going to have the life you enjoy living. if your passion is racing, you will have a race car, if it family, you will focus on that, if its picking up gold diggers, then you will leverage yourself for a certain badge on your car... if you enjoy working on cars, well in your genre of vehicles, you will have a great example of that car. thats it

Hopefully he can tell me what poor people are allowed to be enthusiastic about. Apparently it's not cars.

He'd also better let the people who have $100k+ tied up in serious offroad rigs or non-sports cars know that they should have "nice" cars instead.

    FACT followed by Chances???

That statement doesn't seem like a fact at all.

You don't learn these things until you're making $1M+
