Yea, only real way to fix it is with a legit weld. Cast iron or steel?

The other thing apparently people have used depending on the size of the crack is furnace cement.
It apparently resists temperatures upto 2000F or something. I picked up some at Home Depot to fix a leaky flange on my truck and will be trying it tomorrow.
WHat was the curing process? Normally its a few heat cycles I thought ....

If you take it off, I'll weld it up for a case of beer.Originally posted by Sugarphreak
Cast iron
I don't think it was leaking before, so I can probably just take it off
Kind of disappointing if that is the case, it says right on the packaging it is OK for use on manifolds.

High heat JB is only good to 500 F
Your manifold will hit ~1000

Sounds good, if it does leak just PM me.Originally posted by Sugarphreak
Thanks, but it seems like it isn't leaking, just a hairline crack and might just be superficial.

I just used this to fill a gap on a exhaust flange that the gasket blew out of. I just filled the gap with this stuff and heat cycled it a few times and its been 4 days now and no more leaks.

I tried every kind of high heat epoxy on an old MG exhaust manifold and none of them were worth a shit. Get it welded, or replace it. I ended up spending ridiculous money for a hard to find reinforced oem manifold. Maybe time to upgrade to a header if any aftermarket exists for that car?

ok i tried the jb weld high heat putty followed the instruction gave it 14 hours to cure. now i dunno if me wrapping my header with exhaust wrap(btw the jb weld repair was done on the headers) and when i started driving my car i noticed some weird burnt smell, but i figured since this is a fresh swap and it was pretty much the first day out im just burning off coolant and oil spills. when i got a chance to check wats cooking under my hood i noticed burn marks on the exhaust wrap and underneath that is wer i performed the repair
i think for mid pipe this product should be ok but i wouldnt use it on the headers
