Dangerous ground. I'll get right to the nazi simplification.

What happens if ten years down the road the majority elects a nazi government (don't say it couldn't happen, its happened many times throught history in places they said it would never happen) and they decide to kick out anyone who was a pacifist, like Ghandi.

Or they went full french socialist, and decided to kick out all the billionaires - after forcing them to pay an exit tax.

    http://www.theguardian.com/technolog...us-cirizenship

What if we someday went to war against the US (imposed by Canada, or forced by the US in "another" pre-emptive attack, or forced by Britain.)

Just because an individual is "undesirable" to a current government should never give them rights like that. Besides, in four years - That person might become extremely desirable to the government. By my estimation: Goverments become undesirable more quickly and more often than individual people do.

Freeman on the land - "I am a citizen of the earth?". Gotta find me some international waters like Richard Branson and live free of citizenships.

I'm glad men like Galati still has the balls and resources to call Conservative's BS out.

Conservatives will use those Jihadists from Calgary as example that we need this law.

For some reason I have no issue booting non-Canadian born people who are convicted of terrorism, treason or spying.

Certainly less of a drain on the system to send them home instead of giving them the chance to reoffend.

vague charges. For example, you say "terrorism" and people think flying planes into buildings. Who's to say down the road somebody posting something 'anti-government' on a message board won't be charged with "aiding and supporting terror" and convicted under a "terrorism" charge. "Terrorism" Treason" and "spying" are extremely vague. It's not like "murder" where it's a clear cut definition. It always starts this way where people support these types of laws and they seem reasonable, then in 10-20 or 30 years, who's to say how the people in power at that time will exploit these laws.

I do, and BigMass explains why.

Once we give someone this power it won't be long until they abuse it.

It sounds good at first. But it can be abused far too easily.

Edward Snowden would be considered a traitor and treasonous to the US. All he did, was make the truth available to everyone. He didnt' ram an airplane into anyone. Put him up for the Nobel Peace Prize, because he of all people deserves it.

I'm pretty sure under the new rules, if someone told the truth in Canada - it would be grounds for revokation.

Reread the article. Canadian born people are in scope. So if the government say you are a terrorist, you are not a Canadian any more.

I'm thinking Guantanamo Bay and resort. Omar Kadar was born in Ontario and is a Canadian born citizen. Just reading some comments online when you put the 2 together most people are for it. But they fail to realize that Canadian born citizens would be under it as well. Which tells me most people don't read and are ignorant.

This is scary. Why do these fools in Ottawa seem to think we want a country like the USA?

I think the scenario posted which is most likely is pull you status while you are out of the country, making you stateless and can't return.

So the country you are in can do whatever they want with you.

Seems like C-24 and C-13 are eerily similar to the Patriot Act in the US.

    "Convicted" of Terrorism?

    Easy. Death Penalty.

No need for drastic nazi state laws.

Dostoevsky said that “You can judge a society by how well it treats its prisoners”.

Aside from the obvious - There's a secondary truth here: How a society treats its prisoners today, is how it will treat its citizens tomorrow.
