Electricity infrastructure has no chance in hell of keeping up to a steady conversion rate of cars to electric.
We already got an outlet at home. We just need better production and grid to get electricity.
We are probably 10-15 years away for mass solar panel deployments. By then gas would be expensive enough for alternatives to start to make sense.
We went from NiCad to NiMh to Li-Ion to Li-Po in just 20 years. 10-15 years from now, battery tech would be improvement much and range anxiety will soon be a thing of the past.
In the worse case, we could have plug-in Hybrids to take care of our daily needs on EV and weekend long trips on gas.
The key is are we getting enough clean power generation to support this future.
