A Calgary man fabricating a robbery got the ride he sought to Calgary, but it came at the expense of three charges.
Bradley Bouvier, 18, of Calgary, has been charged with public mischief and two charges of breaching his recognizance after he fabricated a robbery story.
At about 9:30 a.m. on June 9, an anonymous caller contacted the RCMP and claimed a robbery had occurred in the parking lot of the Rexall Drugs on 1st St. W. in Cochrane. RCMP spokesmen say the complainant provided a detailed description of his assailant, who allegedly threatened him with violence and after unsuccessfully getting his wallet, then ran from the scene.
With the excellent description provided to police, a person fitting the description of the assailant was located by RCMP members and arrested without incident. Upon arrest, the suspect was interviewed by police and it was determined the call to police was fictitious. The detained suspect admitted he had made the call and concocted the story. RCMP said he confirmed no robbery had occurred and he phoned in hopes of getting a ride to Calgary from the RCMP.
Bouvier is scheduled to appear at Cochrane Provincial Court on June 17.
