This thread is to separate the Pro2 out because it's the most current and relevant model.

So what's new on the pro2? i talked to Larry over at Ojocam, and suggested he add the hardwire kit as an option for the pro2, he quickly accepted and implemented the suggestion, since a lot of people here would prefer that option... that said, the pro2 uses MICRO usb, not mini as the previous, so you need to make sure you order the correct accessories...

Also worth noting the pro2 WILL work on the old pro windshield mount, so dont bother re-wiring your car if you're just upgrading from pro to pro2

Also the Pro2 ups the video quality, to above 1080p, the 3mp sensor runs at 2304x1296 at 30 fps (youtube doesn't even do above 1080 yet so it's not really necessary, but nice to have if you need to zoom or whatever.)

other than that it's essentially the same as the pro, nice small footprint, no lousy suction cups, easily removable for pulling videos.

I ordered two of these last night.

Driving back from Invermere yesterday, I had a guy in a Jeep who thought hitting the apex of every corner would be a good idea (to the point of being all four wheels outside of the driving lane) and then watched a guy in such a rush that he passed on a solid yellow line, only to pull on to the shoulder entirely to let me by when I eventually caught up to him again.

Bizarre, unpredictable drivers.

yeah more or less, but they're also the same price as buying generic, and the customer service at ojo is top notch.

Just be careful if you buy generic, there are a lot of really bad clones out there.

haha I came back to edit my post as I came to the exact same conclusion! There are a TON of crappy clones out there so for the few extra $$ it sounds like it is well worth it. I was just worried they were branding a cheaper camera from China and marking it up.

You can get a mini to micro adapter for those who have hardwired mini connections. I use this with my garmin and the ojo piggybacks off of it sharing one 12v connection and it works fine. One thing I noticed is that it gets quite hot if set at the highest settings. I adjusted the video to fine and resolution to 1080 as suggested from other forums and it seems to stay a bit cooler. Otherwise no complaints yet as I've only used it a handful of times travelling and longest drive was just 4hrs so far and it's a nice little camera.

Just installed my Pro2 with the hardwiring kit, but having a few issues (likely me just doing something wrong...)

First issue is that it doesn't want to charge or turn on automatically when I put it onto the base. I used an add-a-fuse to tap into the cigarette lighter fuse, and when I test the connection it all worked fine, but when the camera is hooked up all I get is the solid blue light and no indication it's charging when I start the car.

I double-checked that the wiring didn't come loose where it connects to the add-a-fuse, as well as the ground wire and all appears OK. So I'm a bit puzzled as to what it could be.

Anyone experience the same?

The other thing is that the GPS doesn't seem to want to work. I've recorded a bunch of test videos and when I watch them in the viewer software (the Mac beta version) it displays the videos but doesn't display speed or map.

Is it just that those two features are buggy in the Mac beta? I've gone through the camera settings and confirmed that GPS is turned on, so not sure what the deelio is.

Other than these minor things, this cam is awesome! super tiny, great resolution and the install was a cinch!

i know i have had issues with the software if it's not a powerful computer you're uing to view it, the software is buggy for sure.

as far as not charging or not auto recording, that sound sot me like it's not getting power somehow... did you try pluging the microusb into another device like a phone or something and see if it charges that? that would eliminate the wiring and gps dock as issues.

Also might be an obvious thing, but just to confirm you got it from OJO? there are a lot of bad knockoffs out there, some which even use a similar base, but dont actually have the GPS module built in.. i had bought a knockoff one and it was even wired differently when it came to the USB so i couldn't even use that cameras base or wiring for my ojocams.

I'm running the software on a brand new MacBook Pro so I'm not sure if it's a case of it getting bogged down, but perhaps it is something with the beta install. I'm going to re-install it just to be safe.

I haven't tested the microusb on another device yet, but good idea! I'll give that a try.

you could also try the USB direct to the cam, that would tell you if there's potentially an issue with connectivity between the dock and the camera.

Did you buy the memory card through ojo? Believe it was a samsung. Try going into the settings and formatting the card.

yeah, samsung cards are great... but i dont think non charging could be blamed on the card..

Solid blue light = not recording. Mine did this constantly until I formatted. The charging is a different issue, follow thaco advice.

edit: damn phone, you said it recorded test video, so nevermind. took me a while to figure out that no record prob, so maybe this helps someone else.

I ordered mine a few days ago with the car charger but I want to hard-wire it afterwards.
