Well, i'm happy with my set up (2 10'' Type Rs, alpine MRD-1000) but unfortunately my subs are in a Type S box instead of a Type R box. So I was just wondering, would I notice a whole world of difference if i put my subs in a Type R box?

well seein how type s box is selled, im thinkin you would probably know/feel the difference if you had it in a type r box which is ported.

Ported boxes are much louder.

doesnt really matter unless one is ported or not.
the air space for both speakers are close. its just with a type r box youll have a louder system

Depends....check the cubic volume of the box itself and make sure it meets the minium of the Type R subs. I'm taking it that you have the custom Alpine box...usually they make them more then minimum specs...
