Default Summer Series: Return of the Track Car

This summer, we will be featuring member cars on our blog, where we will be taking a look at some of the more interesting cars and stories that have graced this forum in the past decade.

This week, we feature one of Beyond's earlier track car projects. Not many of you know, but we funded several track car projects, and this was the only one that ever made it out alive. Owned by Kenny, this little EG Civic has quite the rough life, and for the first time in a few years, we fired it up and took her out for a rip. Hope you enjoy the article!

If you have an interesting car with interesting stories and would like to be featured, feel free to contact me via PM.

Does the waste-gate still dump to the atmosphere?

I remember "meeting" kenny on Shag one night in front of Market Mall. Rolling race to the speed limit. My STi got DESTROYED.

Always wondered what happened to that car. Glad its still kicking around.

It's really too bad we still don't have a damn track.

Damn 370hp! Nice. What a crazy story too. Can't believe someone stole it like that.

There are so many other stories with that car, it would just drag the article on. One fun one that was brought up was in its Version 1 guise, I borrowed the car for a day to do some baseline tests with the stock suspension to figure out what we needed to do. I basically took the car and threw it around a bunch of corners on sticky tires as hard as I can to see how it felt.

Gave the car back to Kenny, and the next day, a co-worker took the car out for lunch. Coming out of the parking lot, the front suspension collapsed. Bolt fell off. If that fell off a day earlier, I would've crashed hard haha. Pretty much at that point, we needed to replace everything and triple check everything to make sure we don't die in this thing.

Loved the article.. made me miss my oversteery track slut EM2, and really made me want to drive the beast.

What's stopping you guys from bringing it up to Castrol for a CSCC time attack?

    Good read!

I've been itching to pick up another Honda to start building so that it'll be ready by the time either of the tracks are open. Just so hard to find an EG/EK that isnt a completely rusted POS.

Can't tell if you're being an ass or if you legitimately can't remember.

    Either way it's hilarious.

I'm surprised the person hasn't owned up to rolling the car yet haha.
