    Default Replacing a tire

Coming back from Kelowna the other day, a semi blew out his tire while we were passing him and it wrecked one of my tires.

I run Michelin Pilot Sport 2's (245/40/19) but when I called around it looks like the tire shops don't carry them because they're discontinued. The PS3's or Super Sports are completely different treads.

I've been told I need to replace all four tires as it's not good to run tires with different treads. Can someone tell me if this is true? I'd prefer not to replace all four tires, maybe just the pair if possible.

    I drive a 2010 Acura TL SH-AWD.

Yes, since it is AWD, it is not a great idea. If the treads are extremely similar it might work but might not be worth the chance. Try 1010 tires maybe? I remember when I had the original pilot sports on my g35, they were the only ones who i could find who had 2 as they were no longer made.

Just get two new tires and put them in the front, the only time it's a big issues is if there is a difference of 5/32nds between tires

    Thanks for the advice guys.

I know this may sound ignorant, but basically I just want to know if it's REALLY bad for performance or if it'll mess up my electronics as it tries to adjust if I run two different treads, or if it's just purely a performance thing.

I don't ever pin it or rip around or anything, pretty conservative driver. So just trying to figure out if it's reasonably acceptable to just go with two new ones in the front (completely different tire) and keep my PS2's in the back.

I'll get my tread checked to see what's left on my PS2's, it may need replacement anyways which makes all of this moot.

Tirerack does tire shaving so you can check if they still have left over stock.
