    Default snap on contact

Does anyone get deals on snap on tools? Looking to get two good torque wrenches to upgrade from my master craft maximum. Is there any truth that they recalibrate for free in Calgary?

These would be very lightly used, so looking to spend as little as possible. Thanks.

I would recommend checking out Precision Instruments Torque Wrenches. Snap On does not make their own torque wrenches for the most part, PI makes a couple of the Snap On models for them. They aren't cheap by any means, but are rediculously well made and less expensive for the same torque wrench with a Snap On label.

Thanks. They look like nice tools. Was more incentivized by the free recalibration in Calgary if that rumor is true.

The only way to get a deal on Snap on, is if you buy more than a few tools at the same time, or catch a "sale".

I don't think they do free calibration though. All our torque wrenches at work are Snap-On (a dozen of them), and we send them out.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

    I guess $152 isn't that bad for this: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B002...pf_rd_i=915398

Not sure what the difference is between Snapon and CDI "a snap-on incorporated brand".

Not enough range on that for tire swap overs.

How often do you professionals get your wrenches calibrated? And if you are paying to get them calibrated often, what's the benefit to buying a high-end brand like snap-on?

I only use mine a couple times a year, and I have the Princess Auto 3/4" drive version, range from 50-300 ft-lbs. I have a smaller one in case I ever need to do something delicate, but to be honest, I've never used it. The PA one is quite the beast. Very heavy, I can see not wanting to lift that much mass if you used it every day. Still, it has the range to handle wheels on anything I'm going to drive.

In aviation, we're legally obligated to calibrate them annually. Although the calibration report indicate they are never more than a few in.lbs or ft.lbs. out.

In all honesty, I would never have a name brand (Mac, snapon, Matco, craftsman, etc.) Home use tq wrench calibrated. Cars aren't THAT finicky.

I've had my jet torque wrenches calibrated twice since I bought them in 2007 ... both times they were very close to accurate (passed all the tests and didn't require any resetting)

As long as you arn't using them every day and you don't abuse them (use as a breaker bar, drop on the head, etc...), calibration should hold.

I'm happy with Grey Tools and Jet torque wrenches ..... surprisingly the old Husky wrenches home depot sold kept their calibrations quite well, the only problem is I ended up replacing them every year or two because the ?gear? would keep stripping (you'd be torquing something and the wrench would just slip)

Not sure what the difference is between Snapon and CDI "a snap-on incorporated brand".

CDI Torque Instruments is a company that manufactures certain tools for Snap-On and is owned by Snap On. They have a license to sell their other "non- Snap-On" tools under the Snap-On Industrial brand.

So basically you are buying a product from a company that makes the tool for snap-on, is owned by Snap-On, but us not an "authentic" snap-on tool. The tools will may have a Snap-On Industrial Stamp, Snap-On Industrial by CDI, or just CDI stamps.
