Help with Windows 8.1 phone (Lumia 1020)

Hey guys,

just recently got the lumia 1020 to try out.


Anyone know how to turn off the on-screen clock? It's always on and I think it's draining the battery.

I googled to find a solution and everyone keeps mentioning "Glance settings" but i can't find that anywhere under settings.

I"m running windows 8.1

If you know how to turn it off, please let me know, thank you!

First go in to settings, then look for "Glance". The setting is inside of there.

Figured it out, required an update on the extras+info app.

Now can see glance and change settings.

Ya no worries, since it's brand new, try to update the firmware to the latest. It'll take a day or so on the new phone, but a bunch of Nokia apps will become available (this happens on new phones, or factory reset phones), make sure you grab those too!

Don't forget "Preview for Developer":

You'll get access to the latest OS firmware without having to wait for your cell carrier to approve it.

Anyone have problems with duplicate text messages on the 1020? Gf and I both have the 1020, different carriers, and both of us always send duplicate text messages with weird timing issues. I pretty much can only use whatsapp now. I asked Rogers and they had no idea how to fix it.
