Default CoC Replacing Streetlights - Rage2?

Aparently all the street lights in Calgary are being replaced with LED's

    http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgar...gary-1.2715681

Looking at the sample image they provide it looks pretty great! Hopefully it just isn't to bright in your windows.

Somehow the city will manage to make this a loss enterprise...

Anyone know how much the city spends on electricity?

    Ugh, don't like.

Energy efficent is great, but I don't want a super-bright LED lamp glaring into my bedroom window. I hope they pick a different colour temperature than what Oakland did.

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

I thought cities were switching to LED and then switching back because it gives everything a weird light.

NE will complain because it will reduce the vibrancy of the neighborhoods at night

Being able to see the NE clearly at night will halve the average income.

Plus I bet LEDs are harder to break with a rock than the old glass streetlights.

I think it does look nice but i see major issues if they cant be adjusted (dimmed) in areas. 5000k light can be very irritating especially if you need to sleep...

Don't these people know that artificial light is supposed to be orange? Stupid Nenshi.

Seriously though, my hometown went to this set up a couple of years ago and it just looks weird. I guess if I lived with it every day I would get used to it pretty quickly.

Glad they're getting rid of the Ghetto Glow. Cities with these look so much nicer.

agree, the new lights look so much crisper. Hopefully they will throw less leight upwards too, our city is really bad for light pollution.

I'm all for it. Better light output, reduced light pollution, reduced energy consumption. Looking forward to seeing them phased in!

My worry is somehow nenshi will find a way to make LED's cost more in the long run...

I hope they use different led lights than I have seen.

They like to throw off weird shadows and the light feels extremely unnatural.

    But hey...

Apparently they want it to be more daylight out so people aren't confused about sunset and they can justify the 9pm speed zones.

I hope they're more useful than the LED stoplights.

But seriously, if the lights are like anything the LEDs that Lethbridge has (feels like your walking under a full moon) then I am all for it !

They only seem "unnatural" because you're used to the orange glow of the current lights. The color temp of the LED lights is much closer to natural moonlight - I bet the average person would be used to the new colour in a matter of weeks or less.
