IMHO there is nothing "Savage" about a E9X M3 at all...

^ line up with BB at a light, he will show you how savage they can be.
Savage isn't really the right word. The 1M is a drift car, while other M cars are precision track cars. That's where the difference is, and what makes the 1M so special. Who knows what the M2 will be like.

His car is also not stock... Which changes the scales a bit. The s65 can be very tame (due to low torque and high rpm) when breathing atmosphere.Originally posted by AudiPWR

It is still pretty tame with a SC as it just shifts the curves instead of changing the shape which is what makes it such a good upgraded.Originally posted by killramos

That being said, although the 1M had a "non-M" engine it was still a very special car. I would imagine that a 2M will affect the value some but I still think it will be in high demand and then prop up the prices quite a bit compared to say the M3 or the upcoming 2M.
Fair enough I don't know much about the ESS system, just assumed the supercharger would have largely affected low end torque which is a lot of what I was discussing.Originally posted by CSMRX7

From what I have read, all the rumors point to the M2 having a tuned N55 engine. Really wish it got a dedicated engine from M division. A detuned S55 would have been nice.
Just rumors thought, guess we will find out tomorrow!
I was thinking S55 with a single turbo ( maybe twin scroll?) though that might not be to different from the N55...Originally posted by LUCKYSTRIKE

No doubt the ESS kit is fast but like CMSRX7, even with the S/C the power is still very linear and smooth, not my idea of savage.Originally posted by AudiPWR

Im not saying that not savage = slow btw
False alarm, they were teasing this drift video:

Comparing an E46 M3 to a E92 M3 stock for stock (DCT or 6MT) the E92 is soft and fat.Originally posted by BavarianBeast

Now compare an E46 M3 Turbo to an E92 M3 SC and again you see another level of amazing from the E46...there is a reason I have not bought an E92.
Comparing an E92 M3 DCT to an F82 M4 DCT stock for stock the M4 is a savage beast; there is no comparison.
A 1M is stiffer than an E92 M3 and more comparable to the E46 M3 other than the fact the 1M looks weak. The F80 M3/F82 M4 is stiffer than all of them and looks amazing...albeit looks a bit fat still like the E92 M3.
The S65 motor is awesome and really belongs in a 1M to be honest but the N54/N55 motor is nothing close to the S65 or even the S55. The S55 is on a different wavelength of awesome and once any of you guys drive one on the track you will see.
I'm hoping the technology in the M2 will be similar to the M3/M4 S55 to help eliminate the piggish lag in the N54/N55 and that they will keep it stiff like the F80 M3/F82 M4 as well...which is stiffer than the 1M.
You can already Flash Tune the F80 M3/F82 M4 as the encryption keys have been leaked which will put it above any modded N54/N55 car.

Yah your HPF M3 is on a level above beast from all the reviews/videos I have seen over the years. I have never had the pleasure to sit in or drive one, but the numbers it puts down are insane.
Going through those forums on the M4 with the JB tune were very surprising what it delivered with a quick tune. But you will most likely never have the ceiling that the HPF kit gave to the e46. That aside, I'm sure a new M4 tuned with a few goodies will be an absolute blast to drive
Soft, no. Fat, yeah sure.
Stock for stock, the E92 M3 is 30 seconds faster around the ring than the E46.
IMO it's pretty evident which car is savage in comparison.

The E46 is raw. The E92, no where close. The E92 has nearly 90 more horsepower. If it wasn't faster, something would be wrong.

An r8 is also pretty fast around the ring but no one would call it savage btw...

Have we heard if the M Driving people are coming to Alberta yet? Usually they have events where you can drive the new car (F80/82).
On another note - saw a Yas Marina Blue sedan downtown - really like the colour but I think they are going to be everywhere due to it being a launch colour.
Savage? Raw?
I think the as far as rawness goes each generation of M car has been less raw than the previous. Honestly most of that progression has been a good thing as M Cars are generally focused as street cars that perform amazingly well on a track. So there is a balance of speed and comfort.
Raw and savage are two different things.
A GTR is pretty savage but I wouldn't call it raw.
An S2000 sure isn't savage but it is pretty raw for a modern car.
Hopefully the M2 being the smaller car will be a bit more raw than the new M3/M4.
