When I think "Savage", I think unrefined and gritty.... like maybe that 600hp Hellcat Charger.
A savage car should have too much HP to keep the wheels on the ground, and a suspension that's not even close to making it controllable during maneuvering.

Like the Hellcat, or a Hennessy Viper. Not sure there's a modern BMW that would fit that category.

edit: I do remember having a similar argument on Beyond years ago, when someone said how much "raw power" a B18C engine had, lol.

Since we completely derailed the M2 thread I will continue over here. When I think of a savage car I think of one that likes to be man handled, and beats you up too.

I think the Z06 and Viper are probably two of the most obvious choices for me based on what I have driven and experienced.

I know I said the GTR in the other thread and I stand by that, although I don't have much seat time in a stock one. They are loud, rough, fast, and respond well to being thrown around a bit.

That is the perfect comment since the argument stemmed from the definition or raw vs savage.

The S2000 is raw imo, but I think raw power probably was suppose to have a different implication.

I'd have to agree with Sugarphreak's definition of savage. Generally a car that is unrefined and a handful, possibly likely to kill you. Like the Widowmaker 930 911.

I think a savage car should be analog or as close to that as regulations allow. So like the SRT Viper. The GTR seems like computers do lots of the work for you, which takes away from the savagery.

I also agree with Tik-Tok, I don't think BMW really has a car that can be considered as savage
I agree with the GTR statement. It likes to be thrown around and feels like it will rip your face off but not likely to throw you in the ditch.

I don't think BMW has really ever had a savage car. They are all more precision tools (except maybe the 1M), and forgiving too.

I think another really savage car is the porsche 930. Maybe not the massive HP on todays standards but they didn't call it the widowmaker for nothing.

I agree. Definitely a car that's too powerful for its suspension and steering. Like those beautiful and evil Vipers.

My HPF M3 was savage. It made Mibz cry.

I think another candidate could be the 2nd Gen t/c MR2's. If you're not used to them, every time you successfully take a highway off-ramp you come away feeling like you just cheated death.

EDIT: The Hellcat is savage as evidenced by the title of this ARTICLE.

I also agree, "savage" to me means a vehicle with so much aggressive power it overwhelms everything the engine is bolted to. Vipers, Street Hemis, Hellcats, lots of factory stuff falls under that label. 400HP going to the front wheels in your Civic? Yeah, that's pretty savage, too.

All this car-adjective talk reminds me of a quote I read the other day:
You could put five dozen men in a house made entirely of brown corduroy and maybe one of them would call it “drab,” but put those same men on a car-review website and they not only say “the dashboard’s drab,” they’ll say, “No one in their right mind puts all those buttons on a steering wheel! It’s too busy. It made me want to cry.”

Yes, they’ll rage about a car manufacturer no longer offering a manual option but they’ll also say, “I’d have named it the JU-35. For Just Ugly” and, “I tried to look at the interior on the manufacture’s website but I kept falling asleep.”

Hello, Oscar Wilde, you gearhead. Nice to meet you.

By all the definitions here, the SRT-4 Neon falls into this category, haha.

Too much power for the wheels to handle and a suspension that renders the car nigh-uncontrollable. No nannies, no electronic assists. Grrr, so savage.

Only because a TVR will likely break something while you're trying to corner, and throw you into a roll

Powerful TVRs are savage as hell, but I'd put the 427SC above them on the savagery scale. It's a car built for lunatics, by lunatics.

Also a super 7 on cold tires is pretty savage in my opinion.

I think the new gt500 is pretty savage.

I feel like you are defining something that requires restraint and a continuous concious effort to control. If you are daily driving it it probably isn't savage.

Ferrari F50 also comes to mind.
