Default Do you call it in?

    - You have dash cam.
    - You record another driver running a red light.

Global news. Robert Yost, are you on here? Goes and tells the police, gives the dash cam as evidence, police charges the driver.

Keeping the community safe? Good citizen? Snitch?

    Discuss.

IMO, they're a snitch. Only call it in if there's an injured party.

there would still be no proof of the driver, best case is a RO ticket... if someone pissed me off enough to actually do something about it, a call to the cops would not be at the top of my list

In the case of the Toronto bus driver that had to dodge a pedestrian, yes.

    Most other cases, no.

In my opinion dash cameras should be reserved for liability purposes only, but of course we have a thread full of entertaining videos.

I just can't stand the people who upload and whine about every single time they're cut off. Let alone people who feel the need to pursue charges another driver simply because they broke the law one time. You could upload every driver on Deerfoot breaking the law. Where do you draw the line?

I wouldn't. I'm not a police officer and I definitely have better things to do with my time. Like almost anything else I can think of. I'd rather take a shit than go through the effort that calling it in would involve.

no, I wouldn't call it in, I would not call anything in unless it was reckless behavior, obvious DUI, or caused an accident. I am sure there are others, but if there is no real danger, or someone getting hurt, why even bother?

If you are the type that call something like that in, you should reconsider your career path, CPS is hiring like crazy!

I would because I'm spiteful and running red lights causes accidents.

Cut-off, slow, too fast, no signal....could care less. I'm no snowcat. I do have a life.

Far too much paper work on my end to warrant a stupid red light infraction.... thats what red light cameras are for.

Besides, to be a snowcat, you have to be able to do the following,

    -be an absolute pussy

-scream at the person, and then before he can get you, run away.

-Run your mouth online afterwards, safely behind your keyboard

But yah, get a life. No need to call in stupid shit like that....you arent the police. Thats like the fag the other day in the f350, that wouldnt move from the left lane, so i passed him on the right, and he fingered me. Like, what the fuck, you seriously are that self righteous and have nothing better to do? Fuck you.

    UH... what?

Its idiotic comments like this that make us smart drivers realize there are far too many bad drivers out there.

I have run red lights lots of times and never had an accident. Not paying attention and being a bad driver and running red lights may cause accidents.

Its like saying crossing the street will kill you.. Not really.

Only a loser with no life would bother with this. But then there are plenty of those out there.

You should only call ANYTHING in if there is an immediate danger to others. They ran a red light. Past tense. Don't be a bitch. Call it in if they hit something.

Best advice for life in general, "Mind your own fucking business." Period.

I'd call it in if they ran the red light really late (as in they almost clip someone and cause them to brake). Otherwise, I wouldn't really waste my breathe.

So what would you say? "I would like to report an accident that almost happened!"

    Interesting discussion here guys.

As some of you may know, I ride my motorbike with a GoPro. I do make the odd video and post them here in the Car-Cam bad drivers thread as well as my youtube channel.

I would never call the cops over someone running a red light. I have seen it happen a few times. However, if said situation ever happens and the red light runner hits someone, I'd be on the phone with the cops and I'd hand them over the video of what happened. I'd be helping out the victim of others stupidity for sure.

I'm not a snitch, nor do I whine about things that happen to me on the street. I just record, create video, and upload to share my experiences. Bad drivers are everywhere.

But yeah, the only time I'd call it in is when a collision occurred. Otherwise, say your "holy fuck that was bad" and move on.
