So did this basically turn out like the mar veloster thread? Just with a fancier car?

I say stupid shit all the time.
It's not all doom and gloom. While they're not the most reliable vehicles, he could get lucky with a solid one. Just make sure you budget a little for when things do go wrong.

Marked as SOLD. Sat there for long enough.
It's crazy. These sold for what, $110,000 (?) when new, and now a 2007 model with 100,000km sells for $30,000. I have been looking as well, but ultimately decided on something else.
One post I read on MBWorld said a new 6.3 motor costs $65,000
Still, 100,000km is 62,000 miles, and I have a hard time believing the vehicle isn't designed to run for at least double that if not more.
I'm scared with my rs4 motor costing close to 25k, 65k would be insane.
What do you mean "you guess"?Originally posted by Blue
I guess i bought a ML63 amg today and picking it up on monday as a daily driver =/
Is that saying ou walked in to the dealer and they smooth talked you into a used ML63 ?
10yr old luxury vehicle - pimps and wannabeballers only... Not new enough to be baller material - cheap fucks won't touch them for fear of parts costs...Originally posted by ryanallan

Im keeping tabs on the glk pricing... That'll be my next personal toy I think
I'd get a warranty for sure. They are amazing SUV's and are worth it. I've had fairly good experiences with FCCP. https://www.firstcanadian.ca/warranty.htm
But I always maintain, its best to lease a luxury car. Give the keys back when the lease is up and smile.
The previous owner just recently did maintenance on the ML itself. Which including the head bolts, oil change brakes and all that. So I'm not so worried for now. And yes ill be getting extended warranty from FCPP. They been pretty good to me so far for my M3.Originally posted by benyl
I hope you got a warranty.
Look up M156 headbolts. AMG should recall those engines.
Also, don't be downshifting with the paddles. Puts a lot of pressure on the valve bodies and tq converter. The ML doesnt have rev matched downshifts, does it?
kind of? Lol but before i purchased the ML63 (2 days ago) i bought a 2010 GTR as a daily driver. I wouldn't of gotten the ML if i wasn't expecting a kid so i need a SUV instead of a sports car.Originally posted by killramos

Heads bolts aren't part of normal maintenance. It's a design change in MY2011 engines. The old bolts weaken and break, the head lifts, which leaks coolant into the combustion chambers, then bend everything when trying to compress fluid.Originally posted by Blue

It's detectable in most cases by coolant loss, but most ppl ignore it and just add more coolant and it gets catastrophic. So if you get coolant loss, park the car and tow it to get checked.
Unfortunately, there are no recalls or TSB for this. Fortunately, it's only a small % of cars that it's happening to.

I'm currently rebuilding a 6.2L out of an ML63. Someone did a botched repair in the past. Be sure to take care of it and have the service performed by someone competent.
Life is too short to drive boring cars.

Never really thought of the GLC affecting GLK prices, wasn't planning on selling until late this year because it seems the used car market is shit right now but may have to reconsider.Originally posted by AndyL
