Scroll from the bottom of the thread upwards and it looks more surprising

From High River tonight. I noticed the same "professional" photographer getting mentioned at this event as was at the Didsbury one so I decided to check his site out...it's kinda...average? Check out Dreams Alive Imagery if you're curious.

Some photos from GlobalFest Vietnam. Didn't have time to process them until yesterday:
very average, lots of miss-focus and soft shots and IMO Zoo shots should never be on a portfolioOriginally posted by Go4Long

finally had time to go to the mountains and shoot some 4x5 landscape
B&W is HP5+ and color is Ektar 100, got some weird yellow color shift on my other Ektar 100 sheet unfortunately

Really like the B&W Earl. Those tones are amazing and the highlights turned out perfect with no clipping and full detail. Damn film is great!
Ultracrepidarian
I can't really critique him too much on that one :P this one is still one of my favorite shots in my portfolio.Originally posted by taemo

I guess my beef is with 'wildlife photographers' claiming those type of shots as wildlife
Most of those shots look like they are SOOC JPEGs taken with cheap glass, soft or out of focus, and most are poorly exposed. In my head I'm picturing someone who went out and bought themselves an entry level DSLR and immediately went "pro" by showing up to the local rodeos haha. The gopher shot looks like it was taken with an early 2000's cell phone and there are grammatical errors in the pricing information. If you go to the "view your photos" section, it looks like he's done 2 portrait shoots in 2 years.Originally posted by Go4Long

Maybe there is a business opportunity for you there, if you're in the area often.
As for the zoo shots, I like taking those too so I can't knock him for putting them on his website haha. I agree with not calling them "wildlife" though.
He appeared to be shooting with a 1D body of some form and 70-200 and was inside the fence (so able to be wherever he wanted to get "the shot"). It's just inexplicable to me. If I didn't have such a randomly ridiculous schedule I would be all over trying to evict him from the post...it's a LOT of weekends of commitment though...Originally posted by Mitsu3000gt

Must have been a 1D Mk III judging by the amount of in focus images .Originally posted by Go4Long

Jokes aside, yeah that would likely be a big time commitment. Who knows what people are willing to pay for those photos either. If they don't appreciate the better photo, they will just be like "well that guy does it for cheaper...".
