Default What psi do you keep your RV Trailer tires at?

I had stored my little trailer in the garage over winter and as such had to let alot of air out of the tires. I just took it out of the garage for my upcoming trip to BC and when inflating the tires I noticed that it recommended 60 PSI for max load rating of 1650lbs. I inflated them to 40PSI because at 30PSI they looked a little flat. What do you keep your trailer at?

Trailer tires (especially bias ply) should be pressurized in accordance with weight. Its always better to overinflate (you'll wear out the centers a bit quicker) then underinflate (your tire will kersplode).

For the record, vehicles should not be stored for extended periods of time sitting on their tires, it is very bad for the belts. If a car/vehicle is being stored for a significant amount of time, it should be raised off the ground on jackstands FYI

To answer your initial question, I'd run them at 50psi if loaded, 40-45 unloaded. If approaching max weight, then 60psi.

Ya it was probably in the garage for 8 months. Next year I'll put them on jacks.

What do people do that store them in fields etc over winter? Surely on a uneven slope you couldn't use jack stands etc.

I'd say the tires are probably 10 years old unless all rv 13" wheels look similar. The tread and patterns are all still good but Im going to redo my whole frame next year so probably replace them then too.

    I run at 60 when pulling, 40 - 50 over the winter.

You should have a sticker on the tongue/frame rail with te recommended pressure for your trailer... That said I usually run a few psi below that myself to make the ride smoother (mine states 60, I run about 50).

I will look for a sticker. My trailer is 34 years old so i think if it was a sticker its probably well worn off by now. The manual said 35 (with OEM tires) that i downloaded but I think i'll run it at the info on the tire which is 60 or at 50 for a smoother ride as you said

I always run 50-55psi depending on weather.

I additionally always check the tires before leaving the city and again leaving the campsite. 5minutes is worth it.
