Default Looking for a Chevy salesman

Looking for a chvy salesman - want a 2014 1500 LTZ Z71 4WD Crew Cab. Could pay cash, but they have an 84 month zero percent deal on right now. End of season for the 2014s, so I expect the zero percent with a decent discount. Don't want to dick around with 5 different shady salesmen - best price, get it done, etc.

    Thx

Tip: The best price is the price you will buy the vehicle at that is a reasonable offer. Anyone who comes to me and says "whats your best price" doesn't get the best deal. Tell me what you want to pay, I'll try to make that happen.

If you don't want to dick around, give me a number.

Tip: The best price is the price I can get from a salesman.

Not my first rodeo - I know the shady tricks they try and I was trying to find a decent Chevy guy that I don't have to waste my time with. Took a certified check to a dealership for my last truck - told them to either cash it or I'd be in wihin 2 days to pick it up. They didn't cash it. Got a new one, new dealership, cashed, done. .

Offer cost plus 2%........leaves about $1100 in gross on a 55k truck. Good place to start I think.

I hate some of the BS run around crap at dealerships too. There are eight GM dealerships in and around Calgary, every single one has a ton of trucks in stock, we're not dealing with a new C7 here. if you want my business YOU will give me the best price. Fuck...why do they have to play the "I don't know my best price, what will you pay" It screams old school car salesman shady to me.

Why? Because salesmen like to make money when they go to work. Do you go to work to make money? I would hope so.

Why would someone sell something at cost if they don't have to? Why don't you go to the grocery store and tell them you want everything at 2% above cost? Why do you pay fees to ticketmaster?

For some reason people think that the car dealers should make zero money. It's a business, they are open to make money. Shocking, I know.

Every car I have purchased I go to a dealer, do a test drive, and then tell them what I am willing to pay. If it's accepted, great, if not I will go to my absolute bottom line and if that's not accepted then I am clearly looking at the wrong car.

as an industry, car sales has done this to themselves. buyers are educating themselves and it is great.

    Yup.

    Dealer 1 doesn't want cost +2%

    Maybe dealer 2,3,4,5,6,7 etc. will.

Plus it's just an offer, just business, you can say no haha

Unless you are talking about ethnic food, it is 1-3% over cost:
The average supermarket has a profit margin of about 1 percent, according to Stacey Vanek-Smith of National Public Radio. Some experts suggest this figure might be as high as 3 percent.
    Ticketmaster is almost a monopoly:

Find it funny that you compare yourself to them.

Not your fault though, the sales model has been around since there was dealership and cars. And the distrust has been around for just as long.

Meh, I can understand about the whole distrust thing.... My customers love dealing with me because I simply ask them what they think is a fair price, and if it's possible, I do it. I don't play the back and forth game, I work with reasonable offers.

Does it always work? No. I once got an offer of 14k on a 21k car. That's what brands like kia and ford are for. Someone presenting that kind of offer is looking at the wrong car.

Eons ago I sold Fords. One thing that always sticks in my head is the skinny profits we made on new. We usually sold F150's for $500-1200 over invoice. Diesel 3/4-1 tons made 2-4k. Taurus, escort, and all other cars basically sold at or fricking near cost. Keep in mind Ford had a dealer holdback we kept (salesman never made commish on it though)

I do feel you're pain. I hated how customers automatically think we made 10 grand on every vehicle. But our management at the dealership was awesome for giving the best kick-ass price without the mumbo jumbo back and forth smoke and mirrors negotiating. Think that why he has several dealership now, customers love to know their getting the best deal.

GM might be different than Ford....2% over invoice would have been a very acceptable offer. We made piss all on trucks, maybe that's why Ford sells so many?

Ya, people who think we make 3 grand on a 20,000 dollar car are stellar... but, it's bound to happen, I never take it personally.

Basically what I am saying is, if you come in and ask "what's your best price?", You are not getting my best price. Period. "Well fine I'll just go somewhere else". Please do, I like dealing with customers who want to establish a good business relationship, we get along well, they are always happy, and my paycheque is fine.

If you want the BEST PRICE, make an offer, don't just ask for it and expect me to hand it out.

But... every salesperson is different. The ones who immediately give out their best price don't tend to stick around very long... good luck getting favors done if price is all you care about

So basically if I pay your mortgage for 2-3 months instead of 1 you'll give me better service (opposed to crappy service?) and the potential for us to be friends would exisit....

Sounds like you understand the customer service side of things just swimmingly...

I've got to say Fullfledged, the way you've commented in a few of these threads isn't doing you any favors. I can appreciate that car sales can be a frustrating business but you have to consider how what you're saying is being interpreted.

To the guys that responded sayiing that they know a Chevy guy - pm me their details if you have them. I plan to send out an email and see what I get back - I don't want to spend 20 mins on the phone with each guy - I don't have time so $#/& during the day, can't waste time. No games. Here's what I want - give me your price - best price gets it. Basic stuff.

    Thanks!

Of course I'm uptight, it's my user title! I earned it!

But really, I love the job. Used to work in oil and gas and I have zero regrets. All I'm saying is if you truly want the best deal simply saying "what's your best price" is not going to get it.

Also, I'll warn our OP since he's doing the email thing. A dealer will say or do whatever it takes to get you in the door. I have to beat $30,500? Sure, I can do that! When can you come in?

Also, at least with my brand, some dealers are quite scummy and mask the final price. Sure it's 30,500 but when you come pick up your car you will have to a 500 dollar delivery fee or some BS. My dealer doesn't so that, and that's generally why people prefer us, we are upfront and honest, no BS.

I dunno, I just think there are better ways to get the best deal. If I was a customer today buying a car I wouldn't be emailing or calling every dealer... That's just my 2 cents. Best of luck to
OP, hopefully your experience is good!

Lots of scummy dealers out there that tack on fees all over the place. When you look at the final invoice before signing and notice some bullshit "Security package" and "wheel and tire fees" along with "A/C" tax and an admin/delivery fee. It's funny how they ask you about everything else and then just throw those on the invoice - don't even know how it's legal.

    No thanks.
