iPhone 6

So Apple officially announced an event for Sept 9 today:



Supposed to be announcing the iPhone 6 (4.7") and 6L (5.5"), and possibly the rumoured iWatch.

There's been a few leaks of individual parts so people have a pretty good idea of what it's supposed to look like... guess we'll find out for sure in a few weeks!

I really hope that some of the rumours are false with respect to the 6L being premium over the smaller 6. Things like sapphire glass and storage levels.

I don't want a phablet. I do however want the sapphire glass.

What will be interesting is how they handle the entry level phone.

Will the 5C get the 5S innards? what will they call it? Or will the 5S now be the entry level phone?

Sapphire is a super hard glass that they use on higher end watches that is very, very scratch resistant.

yah the sapphire glass feature is probably one of the biggest wants in a phone

no more tiny scratches from jeans/everyday usage. plus it should resist cracking better than previous

Me too. Holding out for the 6. Also do not want a phablet, so the 4.7 will work for me.

They're gonna have iPhone, iPhone phablet, iPad mini, iPad, MacBook? Christ... Every inch is covered.

Didn't Apple say they would never make a phone larger than 4" or with a resolution higher than current?

The Sapphire is interesting. I've yet to see a single phone that doesn't eventually get scratched even by the softest of materials. It's pretty much unavoidable, but cell phones are basically disposable nowadays so it's less of a problem.

^^ I think that was Jobs thing. He also so he wouldn't make a ipad mini. Looks like the old work iphone 5 is going to have an accident soon LOL.

Saphire is cool but it's not invincible. Pretty much all my watches with saphire have some scratches on them.

Yeah our work phones are unfortunately iPhones. Rumor has it we get new ones in January, so I'll probably just grab the smaller of the two iPhone 6 variants.

They had to fake kill off Steve Jobs to proceed with that business plan to compete with Android phone manufacturers.

Haha, true, I think it was Jobs who said that. Apple is definitely a little different since his departure - for the better IMO if Jobs was going to stand by his statements.

Sapphire Crystal Glass will be nice, my watch with it gets banged around a lot and it doesn't appear to have fine scratches to the naked eye of course

Jobs said they would never come out with the original iPad. They built it first andd realized that smaller form factor of the iPhone was the way to go.

I would take what jobs said in public to be the truth.

Apple Building Massive Structure at Flint Center for iPhone 6 Event

Apple today issued invitations for its upcoming iPhone 6 event on September 9, which is also said to include its much-anticipated wearable device. According to the invitations, Apple is planning to host the event at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts at De Anza College in Cupertino, the same location where Steve Jobs introduced the original Mac 30 years ago.

For the occasion, it appears that Apple has been building a massive structure on the campus, which has been kept under tight wraps with a white barricade. A MacRumors reader has sent in images of a mysterious structure at the Flint Center, which appears to span three stories and is protected by "scads" of security people. Administrators had previously declined to comment on what the structure is for, stating only "We are not at liberty to discuss that due to client wishes."

I'm one of those Apple hater persons...unfortunately for me, the better half isn't.

When this thing is eventually announced, can I just order it online from Apple? Or should I wait until the second wave of stock after all the iSheep have camped out overnight and gotten theirs?

I definitely don't want to buy it from one of the mobile carriers, and Kijiji will be full of scammers and scalpers.
