Default City screwing with McKenzie Towne traffic circle again?

I've noticed that there are dotted lines painted on the road which usually are guides for the real paint to come. It appears that Prestwick Bv and McKenzie Towne Gate exits are being repainted so they are a single lane exit. That means a person in the inside lane of the traffic circle would have to change lanes in the circle to take the exit to follow the lines.

WTF can't the city leave it alone?

Because people are too fucking stupid to use it. I see people in the outside lane ride the circle all the time. I've seen four or five near-misses in the last few weeks alone.

Near misses happen everywhere. I've had near misses going through a green light. In my 10 years in the community I've personally witnessed one crash and doesn't the city stats show around 10 total for the life of the circle? I'd say it works.

This is as bright as putting speed bumps on Deerfoot because of all the near misses that occurs on that road daily.

I'm of the opinion that in this city, single lane traffic circles are pretty much the max as far as drivers comprehension goes. Double lane ones like the one in mackenzie just seem to freak everyone out.

I've said it before as well, though double lanes are fine, IF it's a large enough traffic circle...like 3-4 times the size of Mackenzie. You could even put something commercial in the middle, or green area with art or something.

I'm so glad I don't have to go to that godforsaken "towne" now that my gf no longer lives there. Way too many rig pigs and idiots for my liking.

how would one get to the center of a traffic circle center business/green space if the traffic around it is meant to be perpetual? A crosswalk (only legal way to cross a road) would potentially impede traffic.

But does it contribute positively to the flow of traffic? If it were a normal intersection, would traffic be backed up all the time?

Who here is for/against traffic circles/roundabouts?
    Looking around

Simple 1 lane roundabout is 20% faster than 4 way stop but takes up more real estate plus only work if people know how to drive.

I disagree...there must be a wal mart, west 49, beer store and stripper joint within a 2 km radius for them to consider inhabiting the area. I no longer have to listen to idylling diesels/nickel back at 2 am..it's fuckin awesome!!

There is no strip joint or west 49 anywhere near Mckenzie, or am I missing the point? I live in new brighton and haven't had any of these issues you speak of, as well the traffic circle is fine city can fuck off and let it be. If it was the north east we would have more problems and accidents.

Completely for them. If there were lights instead of the circle traffic would be backed up well onto Deerfoot during rush hour.

Yes the idiots that can't use it is annoying, but there will always be idiots.

Riding the outside is perfectly legal and legit provided you yield to the people in the inside lane

Partially this, but then people would have to also know how to use their turn signal as I'm not a mind reader to know when they want to exit.

Can't win them all, hey? I guess you find out pretty quick when the standard issue McKenzie Towne lifted Dodge Ram starts coming into your lane.

Funny because it's true..they sure love parking all their leased toys everywhere and ripping through the school zones in that area.

    Which doesn't happen. LOL.

    EDIT:
    http://www.mtcouncil.com/clientuploa...tions%20v2.pdf

The section on "existing circular intersections" sounds like it'd be a good read for a lot of people.
