^I came away impressed. You can tell it's a smaller bike, but it's not bad to look at. And, it doesn't feel small when you're on it. Then again, I'm only 5'9", so most bikes work just fine for me.

+fees and taxes so closer to 7

I don't think I could justify anything over $5500 all in on one of those things.

But if anyone buys one and wants to sell mid season for $5500 I'd be willing to take theirs for sure.

i've been doing some serious thinking on this... think im going to toss a deposit down, but on the duke version instead. the duke is more upright, naked sport... just suits me better.

was looking at the 690 too, but for the price difference i dont see the value, i've had a few bikes in this power range, but this bastard is so damn light i think its going to be great fun and keep me out of too much trouble. was looking at the cb500f too... but its only 2hp more and 40kg heavier and i believe the same price if not a couple bucks more

The duke is a sexy ass bike but get the 690, the 390 will get boring fast imo. The RC 390 is a cool looking bike but its tiny in real life. Im no CC snob by any means but seeing a grown man on a small bike is not right

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

See, im weird though... bike history went gsxr750>cbr600>cb500 (1973)>buell blast>cx500... still have the cb500 and cx500, cb500 is SMALL... but still fun, cx500 is pretty big after the new frame changes... think the 390 will suit me fine, been like 6 years? since i ditched the gsxr and i have no desire to go back

If its anywhere near 8 grand it wont sell...hell i find out today if i got approved for a 2007 ducati and i barely would be over 8 g's...why would anyone pay that much for such a small bike???

Looks fantastic though and is spec'ed out decently.

As mentioned already, it is quite a bit under $8k

uh... its $6k... blackfoot has already listed it, duke is the naked version and is $500 less... also physical size wise... its not THAT small

    Duke 390:

    wheel base: 1367mm (+/- 15mm)
    seat height: 800mm
    ground clearance:170mm

    GSX-R750:

    wheel base: 1390mm
    seat height: 810mm
    ground clearance:130mm

    but the HUGE difference?

    Duke 390: 139kg
    GSX-R750: 190kg

    conclusion:

good handling and light, with a usable power band (on the street) is way more fun than a fucking supersport for day to day use

ps:ekguy, i hope that $8k duc is a smaller sized monster, or thats pretty insane for a first bike... hope you looked up the maintenance schedule on those fuckers too

    Duke 1290 all the way.

Also, I thought these bikes were more for the European countries with graduated bike size and licensing?

Well, put my deposit down on a duke 390... for those wondering... price isnt actually locked in yet... so the price on kijiji is being honored right now and if there is a drop in price or any rebates those will drop it lower... the "fees" are kinda steep, $700 total. As for quantity they will be requesting 10 bikes but they said it might end up only being 5, there is a few orders in on the duke already too
