I love kho, but the fact there are really only 2 lifts is really shitty. I hope that RCR spends some money there on new lifts and expands the skiable area as well
That is the part I enjoy the most. Having to hike deters people from going there which leaves it wide open for people willing to put the effort in! 4 good laps on T1 or T2 is all I need to leave happy!

Yes, its been a really bad year, mostly for interior and wester BC as well as the PNW. I had a MT Baker trip planned for the end of Feb and we had to cancel. Its been warm and rainy which has killed the snowpack. I was really looking forward to Baker so it really sucks to cancel.

Well... Castle is closing for the season in February

“Unfortunately, the weather has been against us, delivering warm, wet conditions that has eroded our snow base in (the lower mountain),” general manager Brad Brush said in a release.

About 910 centimetres of snow typically hit the mountain during a full winter season, according to the resort. So far in the 2014/15 stretch, only 264 cm have fallen.

Balmy weather has also forced several hills in southern British Columbia to close temporarily or halt operations for the season.

Mount Seymour north of Vancouver has been open for only 12 days so far this season but plans to reopen when conditions permit. Cypress and Grouse Mountains are also on standby, awaiting more snow.

Hemlock Valley Resort has shut down for the season and let most of its seasonal staff go.
    WTF winter?

I feel your pain. I had a baker trip planned this year too. Rebooked twice and eventually changed to whistler. Only to get rained out last weekend and came home two days early.

This season has been a total bust.

Heading down to Montana this weekend to Great Northern Powder guides. Two days of Cat skiing. Have any of you guys been down south in the past week?

I'm thinking were going to have to rebook.
The golfing at Wilderness club is open... UGHH

Up top is quite nice. Decent snow coverage and not icy at all. Park setup is also pretty awesome and the jumps are cut super well at the moment. Just for the love of god do not do the ski out(It's ok till you are a few turns past goats eye). Been going to the shine for years and it's the iciest I have ever seen it. Far worse than anything you would see in May at the moment. It's one giant skating rink. If it snows between now and then you can revise my assessment but as it stands I would avoid the ski out. It's simply not fun and you have to ride pretty much next to the tree line to not be on ice the whole way down.

On a side note if it's that icy at elevation I cannot imagine how bad the frontside of louise is at the moment or nakiska.

Oh and for anyone else who was at the shine did you guys see the avy crown on Wawa ridge? Dear god whoever set that off is lucky they are not dead. Not to mention crazy for having been back there with how unstable the snow pack is at the moment.

    So damn lucky...

Has anyone been at Louise in the last couple of days? We were thinking of taking the kids out there on Saturday so it would be beginner skiers, green runs, front side. Those tend to ice up first and that's no fun for a beginner. Any reports please?

Picked up a Jones Carbon Solution with a set or Karakoram Carbon SL bindings. Now we just need some snow!

Heard on the radio that Castle is shutting down "for the foreseeable future" until they get some more snow. They were closed for the weekdays last week in an effort to save what they had for the long weekend, but they really need some to fall from the sky.

I'm 100% sure that will be icy as fuck. It's just been too warm. One option is Norquay, which gets less afternoon sun, so it should be less icy, although I still don't like your chances.

I was there yesterday and sunday. If I was going to ski anything other than the jump line I would not have gone. It was icy all day long, both days, even though it was sunny and warm. Unless its really warm or there is new snow , it will be super icy

Dislocated my patella last night, so that shuts down my season regardless. At least I'm not missing out on any crazy riding...

Have you guys seen any good sales lately. I am looking to pick up some Goggles and a Jacket. I'm totally new to skiing, so probably don't need ultra high end stuff.
