Friends I hunt with who have a place just north of Ft St John, right on the BC/AB border, which is a hunting lodge/outfitter sort of set up deal, have 8 Elk tags according to my friend that owns the place. Plus other stuff. Should be good times. .300 winmag custom built rifle with Nightforce optics, good laser RF, Kestrel, and some thermal optics (just for spotting, as using them to shoot in low light conditions would make the conservation cops to lose their minds). It's a solid 1/2 MOA rifle, easy, I've done even better with it, and the barrel isn't even at it's midpoint of life.

Next week should be fun. Problem is the extra large freezer I bought in the fall is already 75% full, as a family member has a cattle ranch, and we got 2 sides of beef (different cows) from them for an incredibly good price, and I have no space for anything harvested. Might have to make space for another freezer.

I want to get into archery more going forward. Been flinging arrows a lot lately, just at targets though. It's a ton of fun, probably my 2nd most fav type of shooting next to CQB handgunning.

If you have too much meat, or any wild game type, call me I will solve your problem.

I've got 3 freezers at home. 60 to 70 % full of wild game. Came across some elk from 2021 in there the other day. Oops.

Bison draws were opened to all hunters and anyone can apply as of sep 12th. Should be in your relm account if what I read was correct.

Random draw, no priority needed or taken.

You must have different standards than me, I'd be ecstatic with that grouping at 300 yards.

Which Hornady? I had to zero a new scope last weekend. This is at 200yd after missing paper on my first 6 rounds. I’m using ELD-X in 308.

Nice, that Swarovski app (and the glass) is amazing. I ended up with a 4x12x50 Z3 with the ballistic turrets

You guys you guys are making me want a new scope... just happen to have a new gun i haven't bought one for yet.

Why take a z3 vs the z5 for Swarovski? Haven't looked much other then to briefly check pricing on them.

My philosophy is buy once cry once. I'll have swaro binos and scopes for life. Warrantied for life. They're the best.

I went Z3 because of price. Z5, especially with a 25x magnification, would have been the best option. Both have the ballistic turret which has multiple preset “zeroes” for range.

I don't remember what I paid for it but the fucking binos were 4400$. I absolutely love the built in range finder.

You guys got me into cabelas to look at the z3 and z5. Assumed I'd buy the z5. Took a look at them but i was also shown a steiner predator 4 scope.

The Swarovski wasn't as clear as the steiner. Certainly Swarovski is lighter.... but the glass in the steiner was more crisp and much clearer. Surprised i wasnt wowed by the swarovski. I went in expecting to buy a z3 or z5 but ended up buying the steiner for $1299.

In theory, if I shot a deer legally about 80 minutes outside Calgary.. would any of you come pick it up if I give you a ton of meat?

Trying to get out hunting later this week for my mule buck but don’t have a vehicle suitable to put a deer in… cheers guys
