Exactly like stated the 3v 4.6 just isn't worth it unless it's fully built and has some good boost. Doesn't respond as well to mods as the coyote does. Not only that they suck with boost and are ticking time bombs unless forged internals. The coyote is 10 times the engine the 4.6 is

Ordered an iron LQ4 block, forged rotating assembly all ready for boost, 10:1 compression pistons, PRC 243s with a stage 2.5 CNC, ARP studs/bolts throughout, custom cam and all supporting pieces, SFI balancer and flexplate, water pump, GM muscle car oil pan x2 (one is for the next build), DD alt bracket, FTI level 5 TH400 (good for 1800+HP) with a custom converter, JW Ultrabell, SFI shield and cooler, Injector Dynamics ID2000 injectors, Magnafuel 750 pump and supporting pieces, Jaz 20 gal cell (going to run E85 so I need capacity), shifter, various mounts, and some other stuff I probably forgot.

But like I say, doesn't that depend on what you personally expect out of it? Not everyone wants or needs to have much over 300 hp for a daily driver. For me I just want something that makes some noise and is fast enough for quick passing/0-60. The coyotes are great I'll agree there, but so are the savings that come with getting the older platform on the used market. I've seen a few s197 V8's for under 10 grand with decent mileage.

If you get one and the motor does go, just swap it for an LS and all of your problems will be solved!

I just ordered the parts...haven't got anything yet! So no pictures. Have to make a run to the border when it all shows up. Lots of pics then!

No need to get a fancier head...the stock castings make great power even without the porting.

Yeah I get what you are saying. I had an S197 GT and it was plenty of fun. FBO it was 300/300 at the wheels.

Did the V8 group fall apart for the winter?

^Nope..I've been busy at work but still out and about. Picked up an OEM made in USA 94/95 Cobra upper/lower. It was a great deal until UPS had their way with me. Worst delivery company ever..yay for driving to the NE to pick it up lol. No loss of low rpm torque with an increase up top. Supports up to 400 hp apparently. Plenty for me.

Took off my stupid domestic ricer halo led headlights that the previous owner installed. Put the stock 95 GT lights in. I may change the lights to the clear cobra style.

Finally checked out the Mustang Shop in town. Picked up some intake gaskets for the cobra swap as well as a new clutch pedal cover. Going to put some 17" deep dish staggered silver or anthracite Cobra R's on her come Spring/Summer.

Went drifting in the parking lot near my condo after work. Way too much fun!

Is there any way to attach more than one photo per post?
